We had the good fortune of connecting with Daven Sawh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daven, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When we thought about opening our business, we thought about our common passion, which turned out to be food-we travel for it. We wanted to offer something unique, not only satisfy culinary cravings but also enhance the local cultural landscape. We acknowledged the difficulties in entering the food realm, but we approached the venture with realism and preparedness. We developed a comprehensive business plan provided a roadmap for success; We outlined our goals, target market, financial projections, and marketing strategies. Leveraging community resources for guidance and support allowed us to minimize our mistakes and ensure our chances of success. We kept our vision front and center throughout the process which helped us remain focused and provided motivation during challenging times.
Our journey into opening our business was quite an exciting but challenging one. We learn everyday, we adapt, we listen to our community and we give where we can. We keep the same passion and focus everyday, and we’d like to think this contributes to our success
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our business is centered around serving the best Korean fried chicken in South Florida, but what truly sets us apart is our commitment to authenticity, quality, and community engagement. We take great pride in sourcing the finest ingredients and preparing each dish with care and attention to detail, ensuring that every bite is a flavorful and memorable experience.
One aspect of our business that we are particularly proud of is our dedication to fostering a sense of community. We believe that food has the power to bring people together, and we strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where customers can gather, connect, and enjoy delicious meals with friends and family.
Our journey to where we are today hasn’t been without its challenges, but overcoming these obstacles has only made us stronger and more resilient as a business. We faced difficulties in securing funding, finding the right location, and navigating the complexities of the restaurant industry. However, through perseverance, determination, and a willingness to adapt, we were able to overcome these challenges and continue moving forward.
Along the way, we’ve learned valuable lessons about the importance of perseverance, resilience, and the power of community support. We’ve discovered that success doesn’t come easy and that it often requires hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn from both successes and failures.
As for what we want the world to know about our brand and story, we hope to inspire others with our passion for food, our commitment to excellence, and our belief in the power of community. We strive to be more than just a restaurant – we want to be a gathering place where people can come together to enjoy great food, create lasting memories, and celebrate the joys of life.
Ultimately, our goal is to continue growing and evolving as a business while staying true to our values and our commitment to serving our community. We’re excited about the future and grateful for the opportunity to share our passion with our community
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
South Florida boasts an abundance of dining options and recreational activities. To kick off my friend’s visit, I’d treat them to dinner at Mustard Seed Bistro in Plantation. This cozy bistro, run by a delightful husband-and-wife team, offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. Afterwards, we’d take a leisurely stroll along Hollywood Beach, known for its vibrant ambiance and scenic views.
On the following day, we’d embark on a deep-sea fishing adventure. While Fort Lauderdale Beach offers numerous fishing opportunities, I’d opt for a private boat excursion off Lighthouse Point for a more exclusive experience. After a thrilling day at sea, we’d head to Funky Buddha Brewery for some refreshing beers.
Day three would begin with brunch at Zuma, nestled within the Kimpton Epic Hotel. Then, we’d spend the day exploring Miami Beach, immersing ourselves in the local bar and restaurant scene. I have a soft spot for Hell’s Kitchen, so we’d end the day with a memorable dinner there.
No visit to Florida is complete without a trip to the Keys, so we’d dedicate two days to exploring this idyllic destination. With its array of bars, beaches, and water activities, the Keys promise relaxation and adventure in equal measure.
To conclude our trip on a high note, we’d spend a day or two at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The newly opened Guitar Hotel boasts a plethora of amenities, including a spectacular poolside area, ensuring a memorable end to our unforgettable journey.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We owe a great deal of gratitude to our community for their unwavering support, invaluable feedback, and remarkable generosity. Without their encouragement, we wouldn’t be here today, proudly serving the finest Korean fried chicken in South Florida.
Our success is also indebted to the guidance and mentorship of individuals like Minh Do, a respected restaurateur in our community. Minh generously shared his wisdom and experiences, sparing us from common pitfalls and providing assistance whenever we encountered challenges. We aspire to follow in his footsteps and achieve similar levels of success in the future.
Additionally, I must express my deepest appreciation to my wife, Cuc, whose unwavering support has been a constant source of strength and inspiration. From the very beginning, she stood by my side, dispelling doubts and stepping in to lend a hand whenever needed, all while managing our household and running her own business. Her dedication and resilience have been instrumental in our journey, and I am forever grateful for her unwavering commitment.
