We had the good fortune of connecting with Daviah Jennings and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daviah, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that risks can somewhat be positive. Taking a risk proves how much faith you have in yourself, someone, or something. Risk-taking has always played a key role in my career and in my life. Had I’ve not taken certain risks I would’ve missed great opportunities and I wouldn’t have known my strengths.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business “Luxury Press” started in year 2020, when quarantine began. I wanted many people to stay safe and in-style by making hand-painted press on nails for them. Nail art is my specialty and passion so I will literally design nails and research new nail trends at 3pm or 4am and that’s what sets me apart from others; my dedication! I’m greatly proud about the increase in sales I’ve had since I started this business. It wasn’t easy, I’ve had slow days but I stayed patient and consistent, and thats how I overcame that challenge. Throughout my nail journey the biggest lesson I learned is, having faith is key. Without faith in your business you will not see the success it can birth out. I want everyone to know that even with me being a nail technician/artist for 10+ years, I’m still learning everyday!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wynwood Walls is a great area to walk around and see art, take fun photos, and dine. My favorite restaurants to attend in that area is called “Kush” and “World Famous House of Mac”. On a sunny day out, going to “South Beach Kayak” for kayaking is so relaxing! For a night out of bowling and skating “Basement Miami” is the place to go!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I will like to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. She is the one who introduced the idea that I should do nails, and doing nails has brought forth so much opportunities. To add on, I will like to thank my spiritual leader T.J Allen. He pushes me and keeps me encouraged!
