We had the good fortune of connecting with David Camargo Pablo Zepeda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David Camargo, how do you think about risk?
Risk is natural and encompasses every aspect of life, aside from business. We take risks every day, and sometimes some risks can be serendipitous or lead to a straight disaster. Risks can mount over time, and/or change. Interestingly, the weight of risk is always subjective and affects everyone differently. Pablo is very conservative, while David chases waterfalls. The unique relationship between us is much like yin and yang, in that we have achieved a balance in approaching risks that have allowed us to create a business during times of uncertainty. The pursuit of building a business during a pandemic was a major risk and there have even been some close individuals who copied our model to only fail. The essence makes the difference and the manner in which we approached the market provided a different outcome. We believe risk sets barriers in the market, and proper strategy allows one to overcome them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our family bond and passion for bonsai and exotic plants would eventually lead us into expanding into the botanical space. We have over 10 years of combined experience with cultivating a variety of plants. David’s background in art and business along with Pablo’s tenacity in creating connections and a virtual platform materialized our brand. Dade Plant Co is a way of life by way of a never-ending pursuit of excellence in fulfilling our customers’ needs with rare and exotic plants.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best thing to do in Miami is to start your day off at the Salty Donut. Grab yourself a maple bacon donut and coffee, then get ready for Fairchild Tropical Gardens. Once there, you will have an unparalleled botanical experience by attending the only tropical rain forest in the Continental United States. After, go to Unseen Creatures Brewing & Blending and enjoy some truly amazing craft beer. They have an amazing space and vibe to enjoy and chill.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to give a Shoutout to our family. Family is everything and Dade Plant Co. is a real family business. Carlos Negrones, Deixie Negrones, Cat Keller, Luz Mercedes Furones, Carlos Furones, Arlen Zepeda, Lieren De Vera, Cameron Zepeda, Isaiah Camargo, and Leah Camargo Your belief, help, and support made us.
