Meet De’Andre Tucker | Founder of Creative Mindz Productionz, videographer, photographer and visual storyteller

We had the good fortune of connecting with De’Andre Tucker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi De’Andre, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When my business partner, Walter Washington, and I started Creative Mindz, our original intention wasn’t to build a business at all. It actually began as a way to support my career as a music artist. We needed visuals and content to help bring my music to life, so we learned how to create it ourselves. Over time, we got really good at it. What started as something for personal use quickly turned into something more — we began doing free work for others to build our portfolio, and soon people started recognizing our creative potential. That’s when things shifted. The demand grew, and so did the vision. We realized we had something valuable, and from there we started building a brand that could serve others while still staying true to our artistic roots.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
At Creative Mindz Productionz, what sets us apart is our creative ability to tell stories through visuals that actually mean something We don’t just create content we bring vision to life by pulling the story out of every project. One phrase we live by is “Help us help you make your vision come true.” To us, that starts with understanding the idea in your mind so we can project it clearly through our work.
Our story started in a apartment as roommates literally. What began as a way to support my music career turned into something much bigger. My business partner, Walter Washington, and I were just figuring things out as we went. We started shooting my content, then did free work for others to build a portfolio, and slowly, people started to see the creative potential we had. My mom played a big role too she let us use her basement as our first studio space, which helped launch the brand in a real way.
We didn’t have anyone to teach us how to run a business, shoot professionally, or manage clients it was all trial and error Faith and persistence. There were moments where money was low, bookings were inconsistent, and I considered going back to a 9 to 5. But watching Walt take that leap full-time while I was still working showed me that it was possible. Eventually, I followed and I never turned back.
What helped me push through was the mindset I now live by: discipline beats motivation. I created a method called CPA Communication, Preparation and Action that’s how I move through life. First, I write down the vision. Then I build a plan. Then I act. My life and business don’t run without systems. Balancing multiple clients, creative projects, and fatherhood can get overwhelming but writing things down and staying structured is how I stay grounded.
We’ve learned that clarity and communication are key. Clients sometimes tell us, “Just do what you think is best,” but we’ve found that if we don’t understand their internal vision, we risk missing the mark. So we always begin with listening and asking the right questions.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about Creative Mindz Productionz, it’s that we’re more than a production company. We’re a team of creatives who understand the power of the mind and use that understanding to teach, create, and tell stories that leave a lasting impact. Our mission is to revive vision, inspire creativity, and bring ideas to life with purpose.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Baltimore, I’d give them a full experience that blends the city’s culture with my creative lifestyle. We’d hit up spots like Miss Shirley’s for brunch, grab crabs from one of the best local crab houses, and of course, get a classic chicken box and half & half. I’d take them around the Inner Harbor, downtown skate parks, and a few rollerskating rinks for some fun. They’d also get to see the behind-the-scenes of my work tagging along to weddings, events, or studio sessions to feel the creative energy of Creative Mindz Productionz. We’d end the trip with a moment of reflection, good food, and a reminder of the purpose behind everything I do. Baltimore has a unique mix of culture, grit, and creativity and I’d make sure they feel all of it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely. First and foremost, I want to shout out God none of this would be possible without His guidance and grace. My mom played a huge role in my journey; her support, especially letting us use the basement to run the business early on, was a major help in building Creative Mindz. I also want to recognize my business partner, Walter Washington, who held things down while I worked my 9 to 5, which gave me the space to eventually go full-time. Becoming a dad has fueled a whole new level of purpose and motivation in me. And of course, I’m truly grateful for the support from all my friends, family, and clients your belief in us continues to push the vision forward.
