We had the good fortune of connecting with Demetri Papazissis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Demetri, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business back in 2011 was an essential milestone for my freedom and independence and that was exactly the process I followed; I wanted to become a fully responsible person for my actions I also wanted to be the one who calls the shots without being dependent to uncontrollable circumstances.

What should our readers know about your business?
I sold my first venture at the beginning of 2018 and since then I started two totally different ventures, very close to one another in terms of their inception. Encore Media in 2019 and Superbo AI in 2020. On one hand, Encore Media has been a wild ride in the media world, being a leading firm in distributing titles (movies, series, animation, etc) to numerous streaming and OTT players around the world however our stronghold has been the US. Giving a great deal of attention to tier-2 streaming and OTT players or the new kids on the block, we are curated content that brings numbers to them while at the same time we offer phenomenal payment terms that allow them to grow smoothly without cashflow pains. On the other hand, Superbo AI is the best-kept secret in the Conversational AI ecosystem. With a team of high-caliber people, we grew from 2 people in 2020 to more than 50 in 2022 offering the best-of-breed customer experience technology. Having been targeting the enterprise sector, we are currently serving Global 500 companies like Vodafone Group or MTN Group which is the biggest telecom operator across Africa. However, Superbo is not focusing only on mobile carriers, but we have been expanding our reach to esteemed financial institutions like Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Raiffeisen as well as numerous hospitality, supermarkets, energy, media, and courier companies, Superbo is one of the few companies with such a robust DNA comprised by savvy business people and exceptional scientists from around the world. I take lots of pride when it comes to Superbo because we actually got right from the very beginning when we realized how important is to see things from the end user’s point of view and not just limit your assessment of how robust your technology is. And although our technology is indeed robust however we have been focusing very much on building the proper user experience which requires constant and meticulous planning. Our smart product offering is based around our core omnichannel platform but also on the phenomenal third parties we have integrated to the Superbo ecosystem.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I assume we are talking about Miami but I don’t take this for granted as I am traveling 200 days a year in diverse geographies; having visited 74 different countries in my life, I never know which city I am going to end up next week. But for Miami, I would definitely take my friend around to all the colorful places in Miami. I would start from the Broken Shaker in order to soak up all the tropical pulses. Phenomenal culinary experiences as Miami is a multi-cultural hub it offers a vast variety of original cuisines for every palate. Cuban places like Islas Canarias, or The Wharf for its fantastic pizza, and Hakkasan in the Fontainebleau for a deep dive of phenomenal, exotic Cantonese fusion Asian cuisine. Some great outdoor places like David T. Kennedy Park in the Coconut Grove, but also the Superblue Miami to experience the experiential museum. Needless to say that a drive to Ft. Lauderdale is also a must and we would definitely take it. Also, tickets to an NBA game in the FTX arena are a must-do as well. We wouldn’t let out the touristic South Beach and spend some time in the Faena District. A week is never enough in Miami.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife has been the cornerstone of my journey so far. She believed in me right from the very start, even when I was circumspect in believing in myself. She supported me and keeps supporting all of my decisions and has been a great standing by me as the great woman that she is. I think keeping a healthy marriage has allowed me to focus on my career in a smooth and healthy way so, that goes all to my wife, Renee
