We had the good fortune of connecting with Dena Lyons and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dena, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is following your dreams and not giving up. If you can find a career that is fulfilling to you whereby you achieve your goals, you are successful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
From my colorful oil paintings of trees, I transfer the imagery onto fabric which is sewn into scarves, masks, and clothing. My brand brings beauty to daily life with sensual fabrics to make you feel good everyday. The wearables are sold in stores around the country and direct to fashionistas at charity benefits.

I have learned that skill sets needed as a businesswoman are very different from those of an artist. There is a point when a company has a life of its own, separate from your own, and the responsibilities that goes with it must be delegated. The hardest part of growing a business is learning to let go and allow it to flourish on its own with the help of others. I am grateful for everyone that has supported the growth of my brand.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother has always encouraged me to follow my dreams and has supported me along the way.
