We had the good fortune of connecting with Desire Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desire, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Broward County Florida, born and raised in the city of Ft. Lauderdale. i started off as a kid i loved Barbie dolls & every year for Christmas i requested a head doll to practice hair. I enjoyed it! I was always determined to do hair and to one day be a hair stylist because it came natural to me , as i got older i started pursuing my own clientele throughout high school where i then progressed and made it a career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a 22 year old hair stylist who specializes in protective braid styles & more. when it comes to my craft i prefect every aspect of it. I’m very talented when it comes to using my hands so therefore any hair style i put my mind to i achieve it! What makes me different from other hairstylist is become I love a challenge, i love to try different styles & execute them! Im a FUN hair stylist! I’m mostly proud of how far I’ve came over the years & just to know i have a huge fan base who admires my work and also upcoming stylist i can help with certain techniques. I’ve gotten to where i am today because i was destined for greatness… god gave me a gift which were my hands so of course I’m going to use them to make people feel beautiful! It wasn’t always easy being a hair stylist it was a lot of times i wanted to give up and work towards another career but for some reason i was always drawn back to doing hair and from then i knew i was always in the right position. So many doors had started opening and blessings were falling so i stuck to hair. The lessons i have learned are never mind the critics and to discipline my mind and focus on a bigger vision which is some day opening up my very own shop! I want the world to know that I’m the next big upcoming stylist and this is only the beginning!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ouuu this is easy lol! So i love music, good foods, and nice scenery! I would have to say South Beach to the restaurant BIG PINK would be our first start. They’re so many drinks and entrees to choose from they have on going music good vibes and laughs… will later shoot on down the beach and walk the strip maybe even head on over to Miami district or wynwood and try some of their ice cream spots and designer stores for shops! I’m also a big fan of the LGBT community there BIG and loving when it comes to partying they show us a good time in Miami! Jet skis , ATV riding would also be part of trip as well Miami has all the fun festivities while vacationing!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

A special thank you to my daughter Asiyah for helping mommy push through in order to have a successful career, i want to also thank Miami Voyage for giving me the is opportunity I’m very grateful, thank you!!!
