We had the good fortune of connecting with Destiny/bitten Miranda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Destiny/Bitten, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process stemmed from a need for more connective work, especially in service. I have always worked in the service field since I started working at 17, and over the years it became really clear to me that the most interesting and fruitful interactions come from being in a higher up, ownership type, position. I loved being the director/boss and making a name for myself within the community and the networking fascinated me! I wanted to do something that shared my creative side, and love for crystals and metaphysical healing. It felt like something really called me to guide and learn with people. All my life I have heard that I give great advice, and that I am easy to talk to, so I considered this when I expanded my divination practice to start reading Tarot and Oracle for others. My intuition is something I have always felt deeply connected to, and when it speaks I try to listen. Bitten’s was both an intuitive nudge, and a nudge from my inner circle. I love being able to help people connect with their Human and Higher Self, something that is so often lost to us when we neglect inner engineering and self actualization due to life distractions and stress. There is a lot of common themes, challenges, and decisions, that most people eventually face and I wanted to be a resource/network for those people as they navigate this human experience. Starting my own business was the most logical way to weave the web of the things I wanted and felt gifted at, and find the fulfillment I was seeking.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Bitten’s Crafty is a metaphysical/witchy support for the spiritual community in South Florida, specializing in curated magic and spells, ritual wares, enchantments, crystals, and herb & salt blends for various intentions. We create hand made jewelry for more discreet magic, as well as hidden (aka broom closet) workings like charms, mojo bags, and spell sachets. We also have offerings ranging up to ritual kits, dressed candles and more, though these are usually based on astrology needs (such as a full moon or new moon box) or custom ordered based on what someone is going through! Some of our biggest hits are the spell candles, oils, and spell jars. The offerings at Bitten’s are always made to work best with the current astrology as well as the needs of the people. We are very conscious of the impacts consumerism and capitalism have had on the spiritual community, so we always encourage resourcefulness and DIY magic, as well as sharing knowledge and getting support when needed. We also repurpose a lot of our supplies, like jars and packing material. Our clients are looking to supplement and uplift their practice and enrich their own craft. We believe in reclaiming personal power, something that has helped in getting to where I am today.
(Which was not easy, as its a very vulnerable line of service, and can attract less-than-wanted attention and judgments from those who have not explored beyond their societal indoctrination and biases. ) We work to weave a web between science, magic, and people, with education in psychology and trauma, and years of working experience as a Chaos Witch and Oracle. Bitten’s is also versed in deity work and divination and can aid in establishing a practice to connect with them for your own guidance. Often people come to us to chat about some of the signs or intuitive nudges we may experience if a dieties reach out or call us in. We work across multiple pantheons, and aim to learn more about different cultures as we grow, as connection always starts with research! We have worked with people who are turning to the craft for the first time, are breaking away from religion, as well as people who have their own craft and want supplement and a wide range of things in between. We are most excited to network and get back into sharing our own line of ritual offerings as we roll out new products and offerings, like our spell jar make up brush sets and zodiac empowerment prayer candles! Learning to do social media has been one of the biggest challenges, even though my career here started on Instagram live. The algorithm and just the type of person I am really get in the way of finding the intended audience and retaining attention/interaction, which is what makes this opportunity so aligned for me. Getting my website off the ground is my next big step for Bitten’s.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being here for a whole week would definitely warrant a trip to the Kissimmee dark sky zone! Seeing the stars for how they really are can be a life changing experience. The Prairie is also home to so many amazing fauna, with gorgeous trails and camp grounds. I would definitely have to stop in at beach, but there’s so many to choose from! Additionally we would get a drink from the Kavasutra in Sunrise. Kratom & Kava have become a staple for me especially at shows! There’s also a ton of amazing thrift stores, like The Flip Side in Ft. Lauderdale and Oddballs as well. We would be spending a lot of time out doors, likely also at Wolf Lake or anywhere in the Everglades, such as Shark Valley.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out and say thank you to my amazing partners Danny & Chris for always pushing me to step outside my comfort and providing the support I needed to take my first steps, and of course the financial backing to step up the appearance of my business and support at shows! I would also like to shout out and Thank Corellia Gifts for giving us a steady place to start our vending journey, @ArtsyFartsyMommy for all my stickers, as well as my amazing community of clients and other metaphysical and occult practitioners who have helped educate and motivate me along the way. Blessed Be.
