Meet Diana Arango | Chefpost CEO and Co-founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Arango and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of Chefpost came from my own need. As a working mom, I was struggling to find the time to cook for my family. I also love entertaining at home and wanted to serve my guests delicious and fresh food without worrying about the cooking or kitchen clean-up. I thought it would be amazing to have a place where I could book someone (cook or a chef) that could come to my house and cook for me whenever I need it, like a chef-on-demand for everyday meals or special occasions.

I realized many other women were also tired of cooking but still wanted the freshness of homemade food. The solution didn’t exist, so we decided to create Chefpost to make our lives easier and better by having a chef cooking for you in the comfort of your home, anytime, any day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What makes us proud and excited about is how we are changing and improving people’s lives every time someone books a chef at Chefpost. Having a helping hand in the kitchen really changes your day and week, it gives you time back for what matters the most. It takes the cooking part of your to-do list and gives every customer a better lifestyle.

Chefpost is a start-up and to begin a business these days is never easy. What makes us overcome all the challenges is the passion for the solution we are bringing to people’s homes and also to help the chef’s community find a job in what they love the most. I am a serial entrepreneur, this is the third business I started, so I have learned my lessons, but one thing I learned and utilize the most is knowing our customers. Chefpost is based on what the customers need and want, not what we think they need. Knowing your customer more than anyone else is the key to having the traction we have had so far.

What really sets us apart is what we call the “Chefpost Experience”. From the moment you land at Chefpost until the moment the chef leaves your house and even after that, the customer enjoys a whole experience. We connect with our customers beyond the technology and build a relationship for life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to different neighborhoods every day and show them how diverse our city is. Key Biscayne for sure, a stroll around Coconut Grove, the new Coco Walk, and Glass and Vine for outdoor food and drinks. Brickell and Brickell city center. The design district and Wynwood eat at Mandolin. The Perez Museum, Bal Harbour, and Aventura Mall. Then a beach or boat day.

Last but not least, I would book a Chef at Chefpost to have a culinary experience at home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband deserves huge recognition in my story. Even though Chefpost was my idea, my husband was my biggest supporter and encouraged me to go through to make this dream business a reality.

Chefpost’s idea started a couple of months before Covid, and when Covid hit the world, I froze for a couple of weeks, doubting if this was the right time to start a business, but my husband was a huge believer and the one who pushed me to move forward. We created the whole business structure with him, and he is the Chefpost’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
