We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana “Didi” Contreras and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana “Didi”, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want my legacy to be about following your dream and paying it forward.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love being an artist. Ever since I decided to pursue it seriously, my life changed. It has opened so many doors and taken me all over the world. It take a certain kind of discipline to stay relevant in this field. I take pride in creating art even when I am not inspired. I want the world to be empowered to pursue whatever they love!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever I have a friend visiting I take them to Wynwood, Little Havana, and the Everglades. I would take them to Wynwood Walls and the Graffiti Museum. My favorite places to eat art Suviche and KYU. Next, we can head out to Little Havana where we walk around calle 8. We can check out Domino Park, little shops, and get some Icecream at “Azucar”. Lastly, we can visit the Everglades and go on a air boat ride!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to say thank you to these special teachers Mrs. Myreson, Mr. Clarke, Mr. Easton, Professor David Chang and my mentor Artist Julia Rivera. I have learned so much from you and thank you for your patience.
