We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Frias and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always wanted to be my own boss, but fear has held me back a lot. I became a single mother at the age of 21, so a lot of my time was placed on working a full time job and getting a college degree. Because of this, I felt like I did not spend too much time with my son. Fast forward to 13 years later, I have become a mother for the second time and I knew I wanted to be more present in my baby girl’s childhood.

I have always loved photography and have been doing portraits and weddings as a side hustle for about 10 years. So when the opportunity presented itself, I didn’t let fear hold me back and decided to start my own business as a professional wedding and family photographer.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a lifestyle wedding and family photographer that believes in photographing emotion! What sets me apart is the excellent customer service I provide to my clients. I love documenting one’s milestones as organically as possible and to do that, I need to make sure my clients feel taken care of. A lot of effort goes into making a connection with my clients so that they feel comfortable the day of their shoot and not feel like a stranger is taking their photographs. I want them to be at ease, so that I can document their true essence. That is the goal after all, to provide them not only with an image but with a memory.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots for brunch is The Alchemist in Wilton Manors, we will definitely start there. Take a boat ride by the intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale and maybe checkout some nightlife in Wynwood after having a nice dinner at La Mar restaurant by Gaston Acurio

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shout out goes to Brooke Janae from Brooke Janae Photography. Her online course, From Broke to Booked Blueprint changed me and my business! Not only did her course give me actionable steps to become successful in my industry, but it also gave me the encouragement and confidence I needed to take my business to a new level. I don’t think I would be where I am right now, if it was not for her.
