We had the good fortune of connecting with Diego A. Infante and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diego, why did you pursue a creative career?
Creativity and the arts have always been a huge part of my life. The way creativity works for me is more like curiosity. I’ve always wondered about whether certain things could exist or how creations can be built from using the most random of my influences. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. But it’s always fun to visualize and bring them to life. As for the arts, it’s something that truly brings me happiness and satisfaction. I love learning new skills and practicing. I love going to art shows and talking to other artists about their work. And I love feeling challenged and underestimated. That’s when the fun part comes in.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t just make paintings or drawings. As much as I love doing them, I feel a need to do much more than that. What drives me to do this are stories told through different characters. Characters that come from moments in my life that shaped me. I want to tell these stories across as many different types of media as I possibly can. It takes time, dedication, patience, and hard work, yet it’s all worth it. My reason for doing this is to entertain, educate, and encourage younger generations through my stories just like the stories that inspired me when I was little.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I work in Wynwood, I sometimes get a bit tired of it, but there’s no doubt it’s a special and unique place. Walking around and looking at the street art and graffiti from both locals and outsiders is always refreshing and inspiring. The design district is pretty cool too with all the galleries and public art. Miami’s really awesome because there’s so many different environments wherever you go. My absolute favorite is probably pre-pandemic coral gables. Going to the Art Cinema and chilling at Books and books across the street. Man, I miss that.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s so many people who have helped me and supported me along the way. But I’m truly grateful that my parents have believed in me on this artistic endeavor. What I’m definitely interested in seeing though, is how my friend’s become successful in what they want to do. Just as they’ve bought my comics and went to my art shows to support me, I want to be there for their defining moments.
