We had the good fortune of connecting with Diego Clavijo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diego, what do you attribute your success to?
Well, as an artist, my personal brand is really important to me. One of the most crucial factors, I would say, is perseverance and consistency. In a world where people are looking for immediate results, it’s hard to envision success without immediate gratification. However, being consistent, even without immediate success, is one of the reasons that will make our brand strong enough to last over time, rather than being a casualty of fleeting success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began playing bass at the age of 14. After a negative experience recording my band’s first album, I decided to dive deeper into music production. This led me to get an undergraduate degree in Music Engineering, which opened my ears and eyes to new aspects of music. While I was also performing with different bands and artists in a Bolivia. Currently, I moved to miami and I’m nearing completion of a Master’s in Media Scoring and Production on a full scholarship at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami. This opportunity has opened up numerous possibilities to collaborate with renowned producers and artist in the music industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place I’ll bring my friends to would be Wynwood, it is one of my favorite places to show to people, because there’s always a great vibe and great people to meet, there’s also one of my favorite pizza places Mr01, I love the “Pizza Claudio” that they serve. Also when it get’s dark there’s a bunch of places to visit there to get the miami vibe, from dance clubs to Live music from many generes, which I love. On a more relaxed day I like the Vizcaya museum since it has beautiful landscapes to get pictures and a different view of miami. Finally, you can’t leave miami with out going to the beach so a day on the beach would be more than recommended.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank first to my family who has been a big foundation and support in m life, also all the people that I found on my way that opened their doors for me to learn from them, said as professors and colleagues. And finally to God who has always light my way and my decisions.
