Meet Diego Rodriguez | Finswimming, Freediving, Spearfishing coach and athlete

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diego Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diego, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
What was currently going through my mind was that I finally achieved one of my dreams, and I was feeling good since It is a good and new idea, I wanted to spread finswimming throughout many places where it was unknown, so they could experience something new in the water. Finswimming and other under-water activities are very intriguing for many through all age groups, all these activities could be practiced on a pool, or the vast ocean, and we have the best places to do these activities in our county. So, it was a grand opportunity so that the people could experience new and good sensations next to fins under-water.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would like to explain the future and plans to expand my business. The underwater sports are many. These sports are Finswimming, Freediving, Spearfishing, Diving, Sport diving, Underwater hockey and Underwater rugby. My plan is to have the first aquatic complex for these sports in USA and to be the most important place to have fun with friends or your family, practice and hone your skills, and to create strong and competitive athletes. It is a great opportunity for everyone around the world to enjoy all underwater sports. In USA we don’t have a place to enjoy the various underwater sports.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit me for a week then I would take to Miami then we would go the ocean for snorkeling, spearfishing or fishing. Some other places I would take them would be the restaurants in Miami river which have various seafood related dishes. During night the Miami river is a mythical place as it shows you what Miami is all about, the calm beaches, the neon lights, tall building, and the party life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give my thanks and gratitude to God, my family, and my friends as they have always supported me in all of my jobs and projects. I want to give my thanks to CMAS (World Underwater Federation), CMAS America, USOA (Underwater Society of America), and FEDECAS (Colombian Underwater Federation) for believing in me and the opportunity to demonstrate and develop the sub-aquatic sports.
