Hi Dionna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For a while, I knew my purpose in life had to be along the line of serving. Whether that was my community or helping making the next person’s day. Knowing you can provide exceptional customer skill and provide a solution it was a no brainer for me to start my own business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently a Salon Suite owner in Midtown Miami. I am the head stylist. I specialize in Natural Hair Care and Luxury Extension Applications. Before pivoting into the beauty industry, I’ve always loved enhancing one’s beauty. Whether it was others or myself. I did not know it was calling until 2018 when I was an Assistant Manager in retail. I was blessed enough to have two beautiful baby girls and then it hit me! I love enhancing beauty and creating and building relationships, why wouldn’t I pursue a career doing just that? I enrolled and graduated from Paul Mitchell the School Orlando. I began my journey at Salon Dulay Aveda in Windermere, FL.

In December 2021, my family and I decided to relocate to South FL and that is when I decided to become my own boss. Has it been easy? Absolutely not, having to build your clientele from the ground up in an area you know no one? Not easy at all, but can it be done? ABSOLUTELY! Even during the times inflation is at an all time high! During this journey I learned what true patience, hard work, dedication and discipline can get you.

I want people that will read this article that you get what you put in. If we were to wake up everyday and pay it forward. The world will be a better place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My ideal weekend if my friends were visiting town, we’re definitely hitting a good brunch! Nikki Beach is my favorite right now. I love the fact you can eat, catch good vibes, have beach access with daybeds and hear live music all in one place! Can’t get any better than that!

Always gonna got the town! Maybe Brickell, maybe Wynwood.. wherever the city throws us!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my family! From my Husband to my Mother, Grandmother, Brothers, Aunts, Cousins and even those close close friends that are considered family! If they haven’t been anything they’ve been supportive, understanding, encouraging amongst others things!

Whenever I’m having a moment where I’m just not feeling it or need an extra push I can always count on them.
