We had the good fortune of connecting with Donnesha McBride and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Donnesha, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Denis Waitley once said. “Life is inherently risky. There is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing.”

Life is a journey and every chapter is very interesting especially when you are taking all risks. While there have been smooth paths, I have traveled on like swimming with sharks.

I have also taken risks like being comfortable with being uncomfortable when advocating on platforms and spaces in which I have been given a seat at the table. It’s been those moments in which I’ve learned that fear limits you and your vision. It serves as blinders to what may be just a few steps down the road for you. The journey is valuable, but believing in your talents, your abilities, and your self-worth can empower you to walk down an even brighter path which is what I am doing now.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in and am known for relationship building, sustaining partnerships, and effective communication. These skills have allowed to be proud of the connections and impact I have made in the roles I am able to provide service in.

My experience and passion set me apart from others. Through my experiences, I have been able to hone a set of skills, including appreciative inquiry, lean sigma for professionals, performance improvement, asset mapping, facilitation, diversity and inclusion training, and community engagement. These skills have enhanced my ability to collaborate with and train diverse groups of people.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
While I am certainly a risk taker and enjoy adventures, I indulge in many food tasting around South Florida.

Morning: Walks on the beach/ working out/ and brunch
Afternoons: Lunch and anything that includes exploring the city.
Evening: Dinners

Activities: Skydiving, Barry Farm, Botanicals Gardens, Museum, Schnebly Redland’s Winery & Brewery
Restaurants: Smith & Webster Restaurant & Bar, Red Rooster, Just Spoon, Honey Uninhibited, Sexy Fish, Jaya at the Setai, Lique Miami Waterfront, Root & Bone, Chef Adrianne’s restaurants etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up, God blessed me with a village to pour into my growth and development, hence creating the woman you see and know today.

Wait butttt there’s more… God didn’t just bless me with any village but a village of divine women! Ohhhh and not just any divine women but extraordinary divine women who instilled in me sooo many values.

Values such as spirituality, loyalty, humility, honesty, integrity, determination, courage, RESILIENCE, self – reliance, attentiveness, equanimity, confidence and the list goes on.

As I reflect on the influence my amazing Mom, Grandmas, Sisters, Aunts, Cousins, and so many mentors had and still has in my life. I am always inspired by women each and everyday and am still blessed to have a village… sorry, extraordinary village of women to influence Me.
