We had the good fortune of connecting with Dorlene Pierre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dorlene, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because I have always been fueled by a multitude of ideas swirling in my head (Virgo Mind lol). The joy of being creative and bringing these concepts to life is immensely fulfilling for me. In the earlier days of social media, particularly Instagram, I found a platform where I could share my world and life experiences. Witnessing the positive response from people who enjoyed the creative aspects of my content sparked a deep passion within me.

What truly fueled my love for a creative career was the realization that my creativity could extend beyond personal expression. As I delved into helping businesses grow through the reviews I created, I discovered the profound impact artistry and creativity can have on business success. This aspect of my work became a driving force, motivating me to use my creative abilities not only for personal fulfillment but also to contribute to the growth and inspiration of others.

Ultimately, my journey in a creative career is not just about pursuing my own dreams and passions, but also about encouraging and inspiring others to embrace their own creative pursuits. It’s a journey of self-expression, impact, and the shared joy of bringing imaginative ideas to life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart is my multifaceted role in my brand/business. As a social media manager, virtual assistant, swimwear owner, and content creator, I thrive on the diversity of tasks within the entrepreneurial space. My knack for branding and building has been a driving force in shaping my journey.

Being completely honest, it hasn’t been a walk in the park figuring out my vibe and true passion. Creating Sociallylene as my creative hub allowed me to focus on social media management, branding, and establish Simplylene as my niche. The road has been challenging, marked by moments of self-discovery and learning how to make it all work best for me.

Every day brings new challenges, from accepting less for experience to navigating periods with no clients. But amidst the hurdles, there are those moments where clients come flooding in unexpectedly, reminding me of the dynamic nature of this business.

My swimwear line has been a significant lesson in patience and dedication. I got discouraged at times, wishing for faster success. Looking back, I realize the importance of investing more and nurturing my passion project.

In my role as a social media manager and creator, I’ve learned that passion is the driving force. Loving what you do, putting in the work, building and growing your craft are crucial components of success. The willingness to learn and evolve is a constant in this ever-changing landscape.

My story is that I’m a girl from Miami, just like many others, with dreams and goals to inspire, help, and make a name for myself. I genuinely love the creative space and find joy in bringing concepts to life. For me, it’s not about the number of followers; it’s about the impact. I want the world to know that if you have a passion for the creative space, go for it. It’s about how I can help, what you learn or gain from me, and the hope that it inspires you to pursue your creative aspirations.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, the journey to where I am today has not been easy, it’s been a lot of ups and a whole lot of down lol. I’m grateful for it all, my journey has been shaped by the unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement of various individuals and elements. I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to God, my therapist (she’s a saint!) and my friendships with other creators for their pivotal role in my success.

Without God during this transition journey, I wouldn’t be here doing what he instilled within me. I went through major challenges/ changes, imposter syndrome, lack of focus and almost lost myself. I had to center back to God and with ALOT of work, trust and believing I’m happy to be in this part of my journey and continuing to grow. I listened to a lot of podcast from my church Vous, Sarah Jakes and In Totality Megan Ashley.

My friendship specifically with my girl Tiana aka Heavyinthecity has been a constant source of inspiration, providing safe space and encouragement that has significantly influenced my growth. Her support has been a guiding light, helping me navigate challenges and make the best decisions for myself. The encouragement and belief we both show each other in our abilities motivates me to push beyond my limits.

I also want to extend credit to my therapist Tamara, whose played a crucial role in my journey. She has pushed me in ways to really get to know myself, push myself and to believe I can do anything I set my mind to. She has been instrumental in shaping my perspective and contributing to my achievements.

In essence, this shoutout is not just about me; it’s a recognition of the collective effort and positive influences that have been instrumental in shaping my story. I’m grateful for the support network from my friends and many others that has contributed to my success, and I carry their lessons and encouragement with me as I continue to grow and pursue my goals.
