Meet Dr. Crystal-Ann England | Therapist, Storyteller, Podcast Host, and Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Crystal-Ann England and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Crystal-Ann, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is my commitment to truth, storytelling, and courageous healing, not just for others, but first within myself.
Everything I create, whether it’s therapy, retreats, intergenerational conversations with my mother, or the narratives I share with Caribbean families and the diaspora, is rooted in authenticity and fearlessness. I have the hard conversations most people are afraid or ashamed to have, and I do so with compassion, insight, and respect. My brand succeeds because it is grounded in lived experience, cultural legacy, and emotional integrity.
I’ve learned that healing becomes powerful when it is honest, when it is embodied, and when it is rooted in the understanding that human systems mirror nature: everything grows when it has space, nourishment, and connection.
My success comes from:
Showing up as my full self, therapist, artist, storyteller, daughter, mother, woman of the Caribbean diaspora.
Helping others feel seen, especially women navigating identity, family, and legacy.
Creating spaces of safety and creativity, where people can breathe, reveal, and rise.
Addressing the conversations most avoid, empowering others to face truths, release shame, and embrace growth.
Operating with discernment and spiritual alignment, allowing my purpose to guide my work.
Letting storytelling be the bridge that connects generations, cultures, and inner worlds.
People don’t just follow my brand, they feel it.
Because it’s not a business first.
It’s a calling, shaped by my own healing, my cultural roots, my compassion, and my willingness to guide others through the conversations that matter most.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve spent over 20 years in education and therapy, working with women, families, and communities to create spaces for healing, growth, and connection. What sets me apart is my commitment to truth, storytelling, and courage, I have the hard conversations most people are afraid or ashamed to have, and I use those conversations to guide others toward transformation. My work blends therapy, somatic techniques, visualization, intergenerational exploration, and creative expression to help people reconnect with themselves, their purpose, and their families.
I’m most proud of the spaces I’ve created, whether it’s my private practice, therapeutic retreats, or storytelling platforms, that allow people to heal, reflect, and rise. Seeing women and families move from silence and shame to clarity, empowerment, and connection is the greatest reward.
My professional journey hasn’t been easy. There were moments of self-doubt, professional obstacles, and the challenge of carving out a path that felt authentic rather than conventional. I overcame these by leaning into self-awareness, discernment, and the guidance of mentors, while trusting the unique value of my voice and perspective.
Some of the key lessons I’ve learned along the way include:
Authenticity is magnetic, showing up fully as myself has drawn the right people and opportunities into my life.
Healing starts with self-work, I cannot guide others effectively without doing my own inner work first.
Courage moves culture forward, addressing the hard conversations opens doors for growth, understanding, and liberation.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that my work is more than therapy or storytelling, it’s a calling to transform silence into story, shame into clarity, and pain into empowerment. I help people see themselves and their families in a new light, embrace their truths, and rise into the fullness of their purpose. My mission is to leave a legacy of courage, insight, and transformative storytelling that empowers others to do the same.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start by taking them to one of my favorite breakfast spots! We would have to head to Davie and make our first stop Kristof’s Kafe for the Banana Caramel French Toast and a side of the corned beef hash that is actually made with REAL corned beef, not that canned stuff! Then we would be headed to Vicky’s on University Drive for a cafecito and a guayaba pastelito. Next stop would be Sawgrass Mills for some light shopping. Later that night, we would be headed to Kekoon for some incredible Jamaican bites and incredible music & a TON of vibes!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take a moment to shine a light on the incredible individuals in my life, the ones who are doing extraordinary work to move our culture forward. These are the professionals who challenge the status quo, hold the hard conversations others are afraid to have, and create spaces for growth, healing, and transformation. Your courage, insight, and dedication are changing lives, and I see you. Thank you for raising the bar and inspiring all of us to do better.

An author who has influenced me in more ways than I can ever describe, Clifton Brown. As a self published indie poet, his works are incredible!
“The deeper that I descend into God
the more aware I am of the fact that barely anything is in my control,
and that is OK. But here is the beautiful part,
I have learned that the tiny bit that I do control is as needed as the whole lot that I do not…”
From the book: Awakening The Trinity
I recently also had the privilege of meeting an incredible visionary, who utilizes his platform to portray the Jamaican story that the world often does not hear. The file maker, Mikey T, this multi-award winning film, Beg Yuh A Call brought tears to my ears.
I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many artists, visionaries, & world changers.
