We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Rho Wellness and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Rho, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Born in Philadelphia, PA with immigrated parents from Haiti, Dr. Rho learned the values of resilience, education, and community from an early age. As a child, she witnessed first-hand impacts of chronic disease on her family and community group as well as the need for better access to healthcare, the healing power of artistic expression, and the importance of health education. From these experiences, Dr. Rho was motivated to found her health and wellness firm, Dr. Rho Wellness, to provide speaking, consulting, and training services in diverse settings including K-12 schools, colleges and universities, non-profits, and private workplaces in the U.S. and abroad.
Scientist:
Her research integrates science, health, and policy to address disparities and inequities through patient-centered care and education for chronic disease prevention and treatment.
Artist:
Her artistry serves as a channel to express the joys and pains of the human experience as well as inspire healing and synergy through honest humility.
Educator:
Her teaching philosophy centers on communication, innovation, and co-creation to facilitate learning in not only conventional academic classrooms and yoga studios, but also our everyday collective lives.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Friday – Foodie Friday anyone? Let’s get into at some local restaurants in Little Haiti for lunch and go Michelin star in mid-town for dinner ;). In between, we can lounge by the water at the park or check out the gardens.
Saturday – BEACH day! Whether we are at the fancy, fun hotels in Mid-Beach, a day party in South Beach, or laid out chilling in North Beach, we will soak up the sun on the sand with the ocean breeze.
Sunday – Yoga by the Bay anyone? Join me and. my fellow yogis at 9:30am on Sundays at Thalatta Estate in Palmetto Bay. I teach a meditative slow flow at least once a month starting October 2023 – September 2024. Check out my website rhodamoise.com for more on the schedule.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I must acknowledge The Most High for guiding me through this journey of life with natural law as my compass.
To my family, near and far as well as newly cultivated and fairly seasoned, thank you for watering me especially in times where I have been withered and weakened along the journey. To my Rockstar parents born and raised in Haiti, thank you for your sacrifices.
To my mentors, younger and older than me, living and transitioned, thank you for your teachings. I pray I continue to serve as a vessel.
