Meet Dr. Tisa Thomson

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Tisa Thomson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Tisa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business came from a mix of necessity, vision, and conviction. I created Mc3 Consulting because I wanted to do more than academia. I wanted to build capacity, shift systems, and prove that community transformation could be both data-informed and heart-led. After years of working as a social work professor and with organizations, I noticed that many passionate leaders struggled to sustain their impact. It wasn’t a lack of care; it was a lack of structure, strategy, and evaluation support. Mc3 became my way of bridging that gap by blending social work values, evaluation science, and practical problem-solving to help organizations evolve with confidence.
Over time, a deeper truth started to show up in my work: everything revolves around change. How we face it, how we resist it, and how we grow through it. That realization inspired The Change Hack Collective, a space where I could merge my professional expertise with my passion for personal growth. Through the Change Hack Code: Appraise, Adapt, Achieve Method, I teach individuals and organizations how to move through change with clarity, courage, and consistency.
On a personal level, I was tired of watching potential fade under pressure, my own and others. I wanted to create something that gave people the tools and mindset to rise again and again, no matter what life throws at them. Mc3 builds resilient organizations. The Change Hack Collective builds resilient people. Together, they express my mission to transform how we respond to change from the inside out. Through Mc3 Consulting and The Change Hack Collective, my work makes transformation practical, purposeful, and inclusive.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mc3 Consulting and The Change Hack Collective were both created from a deep desire to make transformation practical, measurable, and human. What sets my work apart is the way it blends data, strategy, and emotional intelligence. I do not just focus on outcomes; I focus on alignment. Every project, partnership, or training begins with the same question: How can we create meaningful, lasting change that people can actually feel and sustain?
Through Mc3 Consulting, I help organizations strengthen their systems, evaluate their impact, and develop the capacity to thrive long term. I am most proud of watching community-based leaders realize that their work is not only valuable but measurable. Seeing organizations gain clarity and confidence through data-driven storytelling is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.
The Change Hack Collective was born from that same spirit but focuses on individuals and professionals who want to navigate personal or professional change with purpose. Using the Change Hack Code: Appraise, Adapt, Achieve Method, I help people move through transitions with clarity, courage, and consistency. Watching people reclaim their confidence and redefine what success means for them is powerful.
Getting here was not easy. Entrepreneurship required me to face uncertainty, self-doubt, and the constant need to evolve. I learned that clarity does not come from waiting for perfect conditions. It comes from taking action, learning from mistakes, and trusting your purpose even when the path is unclear.
The biggest lesson I have learned is that transformation always begins within. My brand is built on authenticity, purpose, and alignment. I want the world to know that my work is about helping people and organizations rise with intention. Whether through Mc3 or The Change Hack Collective, my mission is to make change feel less like a threat and more like an opportunity to grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, I would want the week to feel like a reset for the soul. We would start each morning with a sunrise walk on the beach and a quiet cup of tea by the water. Miami’s sunrises have a way of reminding you to slow down and be fully present.
One day, we would dress up for afternoon tea at the Biltmore Hotel and enjoy the calm elegance of that space. I love how it feels both historic and timeless. We would also spend a day at Patch of Heaven Sanctuary, walking the trails, connecting with nature, and just breathing in the peace of that hidden gem. It is one of those places that instantly grounds you.
Of course, we would make time to explore the city’s Caribbean flavors, especially some good Trinidadian food—doubles, roti, and curry are a must. Miami’s food scene is vibrant, diverse, and full of stories that connect people across cultures.
Evenings would be for catching the sunset from my backyard overlooking the lake, listening to music, and sharing laughter and good food with family. Maybe one night we would find some live music or visit a local art spot to soak in Miami’s creative energy.
By the end of the week, I would want my friend to feel nourished, inspired, and reminded that Miami is not just about energy; it is also about balance, connection, and beauty in the simplest moments.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to the community. The people who show up every day to serve, build, teach, and lead with heart. My work has always been shaped by the energy and resilience of those around me. Every evaluation project, every Change Hack session, and every story of transformation reminds me that I am part of something bigger.
I am especially grateful for my mentors and colleagues who believed in the vision before it was fully formed, and for the community partners who trusted me to walk alongside them through growth and change. Their faith in the process has been my greatest motivation.
I also want to honor my family and close friends who keep me grounded, honest, and balanced. Their love reminds me that impact means nothing without connection.
Through Mc3 Consulting and The Change Hack Collective, I get to witness what collaboration, care, and courage can do when people believe in both the work and each other. This shoutout belongs to everyone who has poured into me so that I can pour into others.
