We had the good fortune of connecting with Dwayne & Victoria Sheppard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dwayne & Victoria, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My husband Mr Dwayne Sheppard, was introduced to the funeral industry as a young child. He would visit the funeral homes with his late grandmother each week. As he grew older, in his high school years he began to work for a local funeral home. Later he was given an opportunity to manage a funeral home under the leadership of Richard Macon. During these seasons of his life he grew to love the industry and later decided to open a funeral home of his own to implement the services he knew that would change the industry forever.
In 2013 we were blessed to open our own funeral home. The experiences and things he witnessed from other funeral homes is what lead us to create a business that would make the process of grieving easier on each and every family we encounter.
When my husband created the business I then found a lane of my own to be able to further assist our families. We created our business in effort to lessen the burden of a family during their time of grief. We wanted to create a funeral “home” that was different than the average and that would allow families to have a different experience
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are the owners of A Good Shepherd’s Funeral Home. Our funeral home is designed to be on the cutting edge of funeral service. We are the younger generation of funeral service and the level of excellence is what we work hard to provide to our families to give their loved ones an amazing home going. We have someone who holds the family’s hand from the time our service begins, we offer things like mobile viewings (which are not offered anywhere else), direct repast location, and so much more.
The level of professionalism along with the other things offered that no one else is offering is what will continue to set us apart
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are in South Florida! So when you think of South Florida you think about fun and the beach. However we would dine at some of the bets restaurants; Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Mastro’s Ocean Club, Eddie V’s, and the best seafood boil spot.
There’s so much to see in Miami/Fort Lauderdale; Bayside is a nice place to visit, along with boat/yacht rides, museum, and much more.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Throughout this process we have been supported by Dwayne’s mother Dorothy Sheppard and My grandmother Charlene Howard
