We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dylan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I made for it. I’ve always had two feet into the artistic landscape, whether it was dance, poetry, percussion, and now music.
I’m a published poet and have even done some work with O’Miami. I competed in Brave New Voices and Louder Than a Bomb Florida! After graduating high school, my friend who was producing said to rap some poetry over his beats, and the rest was history! I have been making music fully for seven years now!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper and your favorite performer’s favorite performer. I put my all into everything I do, and that shows whether you are listening to one of my songs with your AirPods or seeing me live in the flesh.
I got to where I am with consistency, and I am STILL not where I would want to be, but it’s all in due time, and all it takes is that one! It is not easy at all there are days when I doubt myself, think no one wants to listen to me, wonder if I should quit… there or my music, and there were plenty of nights I cried. I get back up and go again, and I’m going to until I can keep moving, no more.
I am still trying to overcome challenges, I just take it day by day, and the only lesson I have right now is don’t be a perfectionist, not be shy, and release everything. The one you think is not the one could be it but don’t let anything stop you from being you and doing you. Nothing more pure than that.
The world should know I am going to be me 100% of the time! The money does not change you it only amplifies. The only thing that is going to change is how the music is getting better. My rap name is my real name for a reason!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we talking food I would say Steve’s Pizza, Publix, Juici Patties, Flanigans, Tam Tam, etc.
Places there usually always something popping off, whether it’s an underground show, but Lot 11 or Always Lunes or eve a FOOM! show or a pop-up or a concert by big artists is happening. Wynwood is a spot to be in, but if you want something quieter, say something more north like Pembroke Pines or Davie.
Tates Comics, Nowhere Toys, Szyn Thrift, and plenty of niche go-to spots if you have never been as well!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The whole Miami Music Scene! FOOM!, Eric Junior, Rumi Juxto, Ba$h, Trust Nobody, Ezra, 90 Knives, JD, Mvngo, Lunes, and so many others who have believed in me or kept me going. I’m grateful for them and if I’m forgetting you I apologize!
