We had the good fortune of connecting with Ed Rosas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ed, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is being of service to others with my skillset of illustration. It is the soil from which all else grows. Without that my business would not exist.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in black and white illustrations that explore the human condition. What sets my work apart from others is the choice of color, the blend of cartooning & realism, and the impact of empathy my work incites. For a long time I struggled with finding my creative voice. I was seeking outside of myself for the answers that were already within. Now I create the work that I “need to make” and that gets me excited. The journey to where I am today wasn’t easy. In retrospect I’m glad it wasn’t. All of the experiences along the way refined me and continue to do so. The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that when you courageously pursue what you love the pendulum of life will swing back in your favor. I want the world to know that it’s not about me, it’s about how I can be of service with the gifts I have.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
*Rubs hands together like Birdman* First things first I’m taking my friend to the beach. After that we are grabbing breakfast on Ocean Drive. Then head back to the hotel to shower, change, and visit the Frost Museum. Grab lunch at Coconut Groove and after head over to Wynwood. From there we change gears and outfits and grab dinner at 1800-Lucky while listening to some incredible music. Every day would be some variation of that schedule.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my family, friends, students, training partners, coaches, clients, and colleagues. Without them I would not have the drive, self-awareness, and gratitude to continue chasing after my dreams. The experiences shared with them serve as an energizing life force.
