We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddie Girard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eddie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Well, let me just start by saying that most of the way, I even process thoughts or begin to approach anything now all stemmed from a lot of research, especially through audiobooks. Which I have only been reading for about a year and have propelled me forward more than I can express.

Most of these books, I found through a lot of business creators on TikTok and Instagram, etc. Most of them have a top 10 list so I started from the top and I’ve been working my way down.

Each one that I have consumed, has applied a new set of standards or guidelines for a many array of tasks, but collectively help guide my decision making.

Once I started getting a better grasp on things, I essentially just reverse engineered my goals into smaller achievable steps, and started working on them every day.

And this is honestly not the first time I’ve tried to work for myself like this, but I realized I was approaching my business as a filmmaker, and not as a businessman that’s why it was not working for me before.

Once I realized that I started consuming the business audiobook content, and here we are!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
So I have been making videos for most of my life, 20 years already. I started when I was very young doing home, videos, and then evolved into snowboard videos (I am from northern Canada.) after high school I went to New Zealand to shoot some snow board videos. When I returned that is when I got accepted into Vancouver Film School.

It was there at VFS that I truly learned cinematography and post production, you can streamline whatever you like but those are the two that I chose. A lot of people took directing, etc. but I always thought that seemed more practical to learn the cameras and the editing software as a physical skill I can use to execute my craft, which is why I chose those two.

Unfortunately, during my final projects in film school, I had a bedbug infestation, and had to leave my old apartment, and also Vancouver entirely at the time. Which put my filmmaking career on hold as I went back to my hometown to go back to work on building ice roads with my father.

After that I packed my truck and drove to Florida!

It was not until then that I truly started taking video seriously again, pretty much when YouTube was at its peak one people like Casey Neistat, Peter McKinnon, and all the OG Youtubers were still doing vlogs and lots of daily videos.

I have shot several videos Since then of several things, weddings, ice, road, construction, yacht videos, travel, videos, Paintball, videos, fishing videos, music videos, party videos , vlog, twitch streaming, you name, and I’ve done it!

Once I got on TikTok and started creating videos on there, that’s when I started getting good at creating the short form content, and that was starting to get more and more positive feedback.

When I was playing and shooting videos for Origin, Paintball in South Florida, is when I got my first 360 camera, the GoPro hero max. That was my first time really trying it and I thought it was an amazing tool.

About a year after I got it as when I really really started using it for shooting more videos and realizing it’s full potential.

And now, with the introduction of Ai post processing the 360 videos, gives it a very unique look, and it’s something that I feel separates me from most other people. I don’t see a lot of people shooting a lot in 360, but it will get bigger over time.

And if there’s two pieces of advice, I can give, one is you cannot give up, as boring as it sounds is taking me 20 years to get to this point. All the lessons I learned along the way, helped me for sure.

And two, is the most valuable thing you can do is teach yourself, new skills, the fastest and easiest way for me was audiobooks, you can speed them up, so you can learn these things a lot faster. It’s one of the biggest things that I’ve help me for sure, in several aspects of running a business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
OK, so I live in Fort Lauderdale, I would 1000% take them to Southport raw bar for the baked stuffed clams and peel and eats.

And we would definitely have to slide through Sebastian beach, and hit up Lulu’s bait shack. I can get one of those giant fish bowls lol

And for some drinks, we would definitely have to go to Hunters Nightclub in Wilton Manors, that place is Poppin on the weekends in for pride is absolute insanity! And of course I make the best videos there so there’s a good chance you can catch me there on the weekends!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So I definitely have to say I’m probably the most influential person that set me up in the right direction. was Alex Hormozi. And this was all done only through watching his TikTok, Instagram and YouTube content.

His top 10 book recommendations were the first ones that I listened to, and they changed everything for me. Especially the book Influence by Robert Caldeni, and Hormozi’s book $100 million Offers.

And of course, his wife Leila also creates content that is just pure value. She is an excellent businesswoman and together they have taught me so much. If you haven’t definitely check them out!
