Meet Edmundo Lopez | Artist (sculptor)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Edmundo Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edmundo, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I believe I was meant to pursue an artistic career because art consumes my thoughts 24/7. Ideas flood my mind throughout the day, and they linger in my brain since childhood. My biggest challenge is choosing which idea to bring to life in my studio. Interestingly, my creative process begins with a given idea, which serves as a foundation for my work. From there, I rely on intuition to guide me as I refine and develop the piece until I’m satisfied with the final result.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My inspiration stems from my childhood and the memories that have shaped me. Through my artwork, I’m able to convey my emotions and vision. I dedicate every day to honing my craft, constantly drawing, sketching, painting, and sculpting. I believe that consistent practice is essential to becoming proficient in any field. In the art world, patience is crucial, as this journey can be long and arduous. As an artist, I must navigate both the creative and business aspects of my career. To achieve success in this industry, you must be persistent and have faith in yourself. I’m proud and feel fulfilled to be an artist, with my works exhibited in museums and galleries, and my own studio where I can express myself freely.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would invite my friend to my home art studio, which is a unique and enjoyable experience. The studio is filled with my own artworks and pieces from other talented artists. It features four distinct studios: sculpture, painting, design, and an outdoor space. To beat the Florida heat, I have an artistic swimming pool on site. After exploring the studio, we would head to Winter Park, where we can visit numerous art galleries, museums, and restaurants.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to extend a special acknowledgement to my wife, Arelis Garcia (Ramo), who has played a vital role in my artistic success. Her unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in my pursuit of a career in the arts. Her love and trust in me have enabled me to take risks and pursue my passions, and I am forever grateful for her presence in my life.
