We had the good fortune of connecting with Eduardo “Gualo” Jaramillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eduardo “Gualo”, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I was raised with a very transparent and in-depth understanding of what love is; the good, the bad and the ugly that it may imply. I learned that though love has unexplainable and euphoric effects in one’s mind, body and soul, it can surely require a significant amount of sacrifice to obtain and maintain. I was lucky enough to fall in-love with music along with the science of sound at a very young age. Pursuing a career unaligned with what I loved could’ve been equivalent to marrying someone whom you are not in-love with… devastating. So for a kid to fall in-love with music and sound, enough to want to make a living out of it, in a city like Miami in the 2010’s. where almost everyone around you is some sort of “art” major, isn’t really the most convincing and promising residency in “the land of opportunity”. Surely, there’s no way I’d marry without being in-love so bring on the sacrifice and whatever it takes because I wasn’t gonna let anything get in the way of my source of unexplainable and euphoric effects: music and sound. I’m married to it and choosing what I love over anything was a decision that was made before I was even aware I made it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a musician and audio engineer. In other words: I get to fly the plane I build. Perhaps conflicted with options because I enjoy so many different jobs within music and sound, however, quite grateful for the versatile opportunities that I’ve had so far: From mixing music and sound for tv/streaming series (La Reina Del Sur S2, No Te Puedes Esconder, Netflix, Telemundo/NBC Universal) to creating and writing music for film (Art Vessel, The Asylum, MVProductions), mixing recordings of a full size symphony orchestras (University of Florida), or to the simple joys of playing my original music with my band on a stage… I can’t deny that whatever I’m gonna be working on next is what I’m consistently most excited about. Honestly, the biggest reward for me is always that my story or work inspires anyone out there in the world to chase their dreams with their feet on the ground, head held high and some good faith.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
– My mother, my best friend: With a trajectory of all levels of success and failure herself, she raised me with principles purposely inclined to manage success in the best and healthiest ways possible. – Dr. Jose Valentino Ruiz: The first music professional to believe in my craft and take me under his wing in my late teenage years. I learned more on the road and playing on different stages around the country and across seas with him and other virtuosos in his band than I did in music school. – Diego Acosta: The only audio engineer to teach me the most memorable and significant lessons in my career across some pizza slices and good coffee. No studio, no gear, just the right words and my ears. – Wally Rodriguez: Talent has never varied through history. What varies significantly are good people willing to give an opportunity for that talent to shine and be applied at a respectable level. Wally will always play this important role in my story: In perfect timing, he gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to not only work but also grow in the field of post-production for television series allowing me to maximize my love for music and sound in ways I never imagined.
