We had the good fortune of connecting with Elvis Murry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elvis, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risks are needed progression. There is no success story without some risk being taken. Taking a chance or shot in the dark will do more than just waiting for your situation to change. Long as you aren’t risking your life or freedom, I’m all for risks. As for me, I try calculate my risks as much as I can, though there time where you have to put it all on the line to elevate.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t look to the left, nor to the right when I create my art. I can’t, if I do, I mess up on whatever I’m working on. I know who I am and how I want things done. I don’t rush the process either, whether it’s a song or an entire project, I will work aimlessly to make sure it’s right. I am my own worst critic. I’ll record the same verse for an hour straight to make sure every lyric and ad lib sounds the way I have it in my head. To make sure it hits the listener right in the gut. It makes me happy when someone says they like my music and how it sounds, but it really make me proud when someone says they feel my music. You may forget how a song sounds, but you’ll never forget how it made you feel.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The moment they come down we going to The Licking lol. In no time we going to the shop to get supplies, I want them to leave on a high note. Of course we passing through the Swap Swap shop , thats an historical landmark, you literally can’t miss it. South Beach to catch the vibes , then back to O P P I . Pass through a few studios, whether its Leakhouse , HD studios, or New Era Studios . Depending on what night, Wyndwood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out my whole team, but most importantly Ryan Reese, been there from the jump. Stayed solid even when I felt everyone jumped ship or abandoned me. I never had to question his loyalty.
