We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilia Drago and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emilia, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have chosen to pursue the performing arts, because it’s been a passion, my whole life and when thinking about other careers, I couldn’t see myself doing something that wasn’t in the performing arts. I love acting, dancing, creating dance, singing, and just performing in general. There’s something so special about creating art for people to bring them into my work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe it’s not unique to see a person who has danced their whole life turn to theatre. I added musical theatre into my life very early on, but couldn’t ever stray away from dance. As I have gotten older I’ve realized I can’t ever pick one art. I truly love them all and I try to be involved as I can. While I’m not at my end goal, I’ve been in a YouTube series, performed in an original one act, been a part of a gym franchise as an at home dance teacher, taught for 5 years in studio as a ballet, contemporary, tap, and jazz teacher, and choreographed three musicals!

Over the years I’ve learned a lot of about patience, self discipline, and just saying “f it” and going for it. You never know where an opportunity will lead you, and what connections you’ll make because of it. I’ve landed so many gigs because of saying “yes” and being dependable and professional.

I am in by no means where I want to be in life right now, but I am proud of the accomplishments I’ve made in the last few years. I hope one day to be an actor full time on tv or on film, or to choreograph the next “La La Land”. This is only the beginning of my adventure.

I hope anyone who reads this decides to take a chance on something, whatever it is, and do it. You never know what is waiting on the other side.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Monday:
I’d love to take them over to Key Biscayne and show them the area, take them to the beaches, drive by the fancy houses, and watch the sunrise at the beach.

Tuesday:
Take them down to the Berry Farms for strawberry and flower picking, and then knaus berry farm for some cinnamon rolls.

Wednesday:
More touristy places like Lincoln road, brickell city center, and Miami Beach.

Thursday:
Take them up to sunny isles to see Bal Harbor and Hallandale Beach. Stop at aventura mall on the way back to show them one of the biggest malls in the US.

Friday:
Take them on a joyride all around miami.

Saturday:
Go to Key Biscayne all day to see the sunrise and sunset at the beach.

Sunday:
Take them to Roasters and Toasters for breakfast and take them to the airport.

I’d love to shout out my family and my friends for supporting me. They’re the ones who keep telling me to pursue my dreams as an artist and business owner.
