We had the good fortune of connecting with Emilly Lana Mayorga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emilly, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I hit a new low in my life as an adult which really forced me to look within and heal. Once I started to take a hard look at myself and dedicated my life to healing my mind and body, everything else followed. With healing, I became more secure, confident and my voice grew and I was able to expand and grow my skills and services. With that came many opportunities in dance, events and the healing arts.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Ever since I was a little girl, music ran through my blood. My grandma has loved music for as long as I have lived as he sang at all of the family parties. I was always dancing along. As I grew up, I immediately went to college for Public Relations and followed the path most traveled and went straight into an internship that became a full-time career as an event planner. This was an amazing milestone too! Later on, I started taking dance classes which led me back to my innate love for dancing. I decided to immerse myself into this full time. I left the security of a full time income and went into an artists path, training everyday. It was not easy as I started at a later age so comparing myself to those who have a 10+ year lead on training has been difficult.
I thought I had no future in dance anymore because I was too late and now too old. Until now. Actually, yesterday, I booked dancers and created choreography for a music video starring Messiah- one of Nicky jam’s artist. This was an amazing milestone for me as an artist. This shows me there are so many routes I can take in the art of dance. This is helping overcome my own insecurities and continue to push harder! I got to this point by showcasing my training, my feeding my own hunger and bravery and posting all of my triumphs in dance and modeling. Funny thing- this opportunity came to be from my event planning career that is also in motion at the same time! Life is funny that way. I want the world to know– to preserver. When they feel like giving up- that is the exact moment to KEEP GOING and PUSH HARDER! This is the biggest lesson I’ve learned. That moment can make one huge difference in your life and it did in mine. Always being ready and open to new opportunities has kept me so busy as I am always up for a challenge and dive in head first!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Miami! I would take my bff to so many places: Morgans in Wynwood for Brunch.
Wynwood Walls for the art and culture.
Dr. Smood for a good coffee.
The Wynwood Marketplace for shopping!
Pilos Tequila Garden for some dancing and tacos.
The Good Time Hotel’s Strawberry Moon for pool and drinks.
Artechouse for an immersive art experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to all those who believed in me and gave me chances! From the studios I train at; Show Stoppers, Synergy Yoga to the main events company I work with; Loni Paige Events. All of these companies have shown me what it takes to create a successful company and how to be a serious business owner. They have taken me in and taught me so much and have shaped who I am today as an artist to a business woman!
