We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Prada and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking has been an integral part of my journey as a wedding photographer, especially after recently opening my own photo studio. To me, risk isn’t just a leap into the unknown, but rather an opportunity for growth, self-discovery, and pushing the boundaries of my creativity and capabilities. It’s a space where beautiful things are born if you work on yourself enough to see past the fear of the risks you take.

When it comes to embracing risk, I approach it with a strategic mindset. I carefully evaluate potential outcomes and weigh the possibilities against the potential rewards. I think this is how and why I’ve been able to become successful in my industry. Anytime a risk has presented itself to me I dream hard and bring intention to whatever risk it is for me. For me it’s been opening my own studio that once began as a dream. You can’t pursue your dreams without risk. They go hand in hand.

In my career, risk-taking has been the catalyst for innovation. It has motivated me to experiment with new techniques, and dig deep into improving my self that has made all the difference to set my work apart. Embracing risks has opened doors to incredible opportunities, expanded my clientele, and helped me develop a style that is uniquely my own.

However, risk-taking doesn’t come without challenges. Failure is such a big part of taking risks, but I view it as a stepping stone towards improvement rather than a setback. Learning from mistakes has taught me invaluable lessons that I would have never learned elsewhere. These lessons pushed me to want to become the best I could and strengthened my resilience as a photographer and business owner.

Opening my own photo studio was one of the most significant risks I’ve taken in my career. It’s required so much dedication, financial investment, and most importantly, the courage to believe in myself. But it has been immensely rewarding. Having a dedicated space allows me to provide a unique experience for my clients and bring my creative vision to life in ways I couldn’t before.

Risk-taking has been the driving force behind my growth as a wedding photographer. It has empowered me to elevate my craft, build a thriving business, and immerse myself in deep connections with my clients. I will continue to embrace risks, knowing that they are essential stepping stones on the path to creating timeless and extraordinary memories for the couples I have the privilege to photograph.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is my ability to create such a unique experience to my clients. To make them feel loved and like their most beautiful selves is truly my greatest gift. I think because of this, i’m able to bring out the best in others making them feel comfortable and confident. I feel like this translates through my work and why I’ve had success.

Ive personally gotten to where I am from my dedication to not only my craft but my personal development. I truly believe that there’s nothing greater than investing in yourself. It’s only when your cup is full that you can pour into others.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that you have to take accountability for your own life and dreams. Taking action and developing a plan will lead you down a path to success. I started my own podcast called Soultuary The Podcast where I inspire others to love themselves and be on the journey to living your best life.

Because of all of the obstacles and hardships I’ve had to face, I’ve been able to make one of my greatest dreams come to life which is opening my own studio – Soultuary The Studio. After working on any self limiting beliefs and fear, I finally decided to take the greatest risk in opening my own photo studio that is also a rental space for all creatives. Having this space has helped my business flourish in such a beautiful way that it never would have without believing in myself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would most definitely spend the day at the beach in West palm and have a meal at RH. Maybe explore worth ave and the shops a bit. Then for night time we would go to a rooftop bar in Miami have dinner somewhere then go out dancing. I have two sides of me. One where I love to relax, which is the West Palm side of me but then I also have a fun side where I LOVE to dance and enjoy a good cocktail or two.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
2020 was the year for me that truly had such an impact in my life. I had so much extra time to finally invest in myself that all I did was read and explore the depths of my heart. Doing so has lead me to become the person I am today. I can remember reading Untamed by Glenn Doyle and Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. These books were books that I could not put down because I had so many moments that impacted my heart and soul. They helped me to face myself and they lead me down a path of self development. This season truly helped me face everything that held me back and that being myself. Ive been able to take ownership over the path I want in life and it’s truly what has been such a huge factor in my growth.

Secondly, I wouldn’t be where I am without the support from my family. Through all of my career changes they’ve supported me along the way.

And most importantly, my boyfriend who has been such a huge support for me in one of the hardest seasons of my life. His support, love and encouragement during these past 2 years have been everything and more and such a beautiful reminder to me that I don’t have to do life alone.
