Meet Emily Schneider | Owner of Good Vibakery

We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Schneider and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always deeply loved baking and find joy in creating delicious treats more so because of the feeling of creating a celebration out of anything, it didn’t have to be a birthday, anniversary, or big achievement. I started Good Vibakery to help create that feeling for others who wanted to enjoy a baked good for ANY and EVERY occasion. When I started my business I knew I had to differentiate from the typical treats sold at grocery stores, which is why I offer an orange olive oil cake, matcha sugar cookies, date cake, and other creations. From sharing baked goods with friends and family to starting a home bakery, my goal is to bring good vibes through enjoying my baked goods.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
After graduating from the University of South Carolina in three years during a pandemic, the future was quite uncertain. I started putting my marketing degree to use and my passions on the back burner. I started to prioritize the balance of what I needed to do and wanted to do. I have always had a deep passion for cooking and baking but without formal training, I learned through a lot of trial and error. I found myself wanting to turn my passion into a career, but still lacking culinary education I was at a standstill due to lack of experience. I have always been a go-getter with a figure-it-out mentality, I knew there were other ways to get from point A to point B, and considering I found a way to graduate college early I knew I could get a culinary education without going to a school. I researched numerous programs to see how and what they learned, I bought books, watched videos, and began experimenting. In the end, to get to my goal I needed: education, passion, and determination; without any of those I wouldn’t have successfully launched Good Vibakery. Now I am open for business and excited to succeed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
On the first day in West Palm we would make our way over to Hurricane Cafe in Juno Beach before hitting the beach, then we would drive to Joseph’s Italian Market for some prepared food for lunch, and Frigate’s for drinks before dinner at Pig Beach Bbq. The second day we would eat breakfast at Howley’s, followed by shopping on Antique Row and going to the Norton Museum of Art, lunch would by at Lynora’s, dinner at Sushi Yama but you can’t forget dessert at Piccolo Gelato. For the third day, we would explore downtown making our way to Rosemary Square for breakfast at Pura Vida, once we are finished we would drive to Palm Beach Outlets for some deals before lunch at Grandview Public Market and back to Rosemary Square for dinner at El Camino. The fourth day we would go to Mounts Botanical Garden after grabbing breakfast sandwiches at Makeb’s, after seeing the beautiful scenery we would eat lunch at Malakor Thai Cafe and explore Northwood, for dinner we would go to Rivales Taqueria. For the fifth and final day, we would go to Celis Produce on Palm Beach before hitting the beach, then for lunch we would go to Pizza Al Fresco, then the Manatee Lagoon before at Cafe Flora and drinks at the Seafood Bar at the Breakers.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I took the leap to move to Florida from New Jersey and later start a home bakery (Good Vibakery), there were two people crazy enough to jump right in this wild ride with me: Macallan (my boyfriend) and Joann (my mommom). Macallan was the one who first put the thought into my mind of starting a business after finishing a whole cake in one day, for someone who doesn’t particularly enjoy sweets that says a lot. Joann and I have always spent time together baking her family recipes and was jumping at the idea for me to share those with others, plus she enjoys the extras I make. Macallan and Joann continuously check in on how it is going and help in any way they can, but especially taste testing.
