We had the good fortune of connecting with Empress Hepburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Empress, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I’ve always been interested in business, I saw it as a way to take control of my life and create a better future for my children. The most important decision I ever made was when I took control of my own destiny and created opportunities not only for myself, but also for women who look like me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Empress Hepburn, also known as himynameisempress on Instagram, is a visionary, Loctician, entrepreneur, and future pharmacist. With a passion for empowering women of all shapes and sizes, she’s been a plus-size advocate since 2007, when she founded Chunky Chickz.

As a single mother of six, Empress knows what it takes to juggle multiple responsibilities while pursuing her dreams. She’s a lover of the arts, beach music, and fashion, and has a soft spot for her dogs.

Empress is currently the founder of Curve Fest Miami, an event that celebrates and showcases curves, as well as the founder of The Curve Factory, which offers stylish and trendy clothing for plus-size women. She’s also the founder of LocStar Miami, a salon specializing in natural hair care and loc maintenance.

In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, Empress is working towards becoming a pharmacist, demonstrating her commitment to helping others. Her dedication to her craft, her community, and her family make her an inspiration to many.

Curve Fest Miami is the ultimate celebration of body positivity, fashion, and culture, bringing together diverse communities to embrace and celebrate all body types and sizes. Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Beach: Miami is famous for its beaches, and some of the most popular ones include South Beach, Miami Beach, and Key Biscayne. South Beach is known for its lively atmosphere and art deco architecture, while Miami Beach offers a quieter and more family-friendly experience. Key Biscayne is a more secluded option with calm waters and scenic views.

Music: Miami has a vibrant music scene with a variety of genres, including Latin, Caribbean, hip-hop, and electronic dance music (EDM). Definitely going to Brick in Wynwood & Nikki Beach.

Food: Miami is known for its diverse and delicious food scene, which includes Cuban, Caribbean, and Latin American cuisine, among others. Some popular food spots in Miami include Joe’s Stone Crab for seafood, Lorna’s for Bahamian cuisine, and Yardbird Southern Table & Bar for Southern-style comfort food. Also, my Mother Beverly Hepburn is a great cook who has been catering events here in Miami since I was a child.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to the very important people in my life – my mother and my children.

My mother has been a constant source of support and encouragement throughout my life. Her unwavering belief in my abilities and her tireless efforts towards my growth and development have been instrumental in shaping the person I am today. Her unconditional love and guidance have provided me with the strength and resilience to overcome challenges and pursue my dreams.

Similarly, my children have been a constant source of inspiration and motivation. Their love, support, and encouragement have been a driving force in my pursuit of personal and professional success. Their unwavering faith in my abilities and their unconditional love have provided me with the strength and determination to overcome obstacles and strive towards my goals.

I am truly grateful for the presence of my family in my life. Their unwavering support and encouragement have been a constant source of comfort and inspiration, and I cannot thank them enough for their contributions to my journey towards success.
