We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Foster II and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think my lived experience has been the largest component behind my philosophy. In a day and age where so many people are being someone different on social media for engagement, I get to be myself AUthentically. “AU” being periodic symbol for Gold I literally live my life like it’s Golden.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Right now I’m honestly most excited to be starting school again this Fall. I’ll be attending Florida Atlantic University for my Ph. D in Higher Education Leadership. I’ve really defied the odds. I failed 5th & 9th grade, it took me 6 years to earn a 4-year degree, ’m a first-generation college student, etc, all these areas of intersectionality have really pieced together my testimony.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest I’m really not big on going out. I’m an ambivert so I’m really both intro and extroverted. If I did decide to go out to eat I would suggest anything from Jackson’s Soulfood to Cheesecake Factory depending on the vibe. I like Lornas and Jamaica House too.

Things to do, I would recommend riding scooters downtown. Paint balling too!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Man my sisters and aunts are really the MVP’s of my team. Without going into detail they were definitely the launching pad for my success. Had they not intervened in my life after my mom passed I’d be a completely different individual. Given I put in all of my footwork, had they not been there to give me different perspective every now and then, I wouldn’t be Mr. Get After It Now.
