We had the good fortune of connecting with ERIKA LAM and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ERIKA, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I had to make was to stop living my Mom’s dream. She wanted me to be a nurse so I went to school and everything just to make her happy however I was not happy doing it. When I started my business I sacrificed time with my family because I didn’t want to hear their negativity. I went to school in a small town and my parents lived 5 hours away. I didn’t go home for Christmas, I didn’t go home for New Year..etc. I had to sacrifice my time to focus on what I really wanted in life.
What should our readers know about your business?
I’m most proud of being able to invest in other people’s happiness, when I was a nurse before I would only make enough to make me happy but now I can give back to others. Out of the 1500 people in our organization that was on the 2nd biggest cruise ship in the world Symphony of the Seas, I was personally able to bring 23 people on that cruise. It’s very amazing and exciting to be able to invest in other people’s happiness. I just want everyone to be happy. Of course, the journey to success isn’t easy there are a lot of challenges, failures, and setbacks however, that’s the only way to become successful. Every successful person has failed over and over again and they have also been rejected over and over again, but the difference between successful people and the unsuccessful is their mindset. You really must have a growth mindset, whenever challenges come you will always see the good in every situation. The lesson is to never give up, if you feel like giving up always think about why you started, what is your biggest WHY? Because your WHY should be so strong that it makes you cry and use that pain to push you forward through the challenges.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Banff, there is a lot of hiking and site seeking there.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to recognize all my mentors and leaders that have helped and trained me to be where I am now. Tita Eunice and Myke Dator, Kuya Marlowe and Ate Prel Endrinal, Kuya Richard Sampang, Kuya Renz Quinsay, Tito Marlon and Tita Elsa and my very support best friend Dan Cafe.
