We had the good fortune of connecting with Ervince “Rtp illy” Louis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ervince “Rtp illy”, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose an artistic/creative career for 2 reasons, I love to breakdown life and situations in a way that helps elaborate my current current emotions and hopefully relate to my listeners and help guid them to understanding how to move next. Also I feel like I’ve been through so many journeys in my lifetime that allowed me access to better understanding a wide range of different walks of lives. This allows me to make the same message relate to 2 or more people in different parts of the world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is my talent to vividly tell stories and to be completely vulnerable in my music. I give everything, the flaws, the negatives, the positives, the misunderstandings, the fear, the growth and the hope. It was not easy and still is not, but as I grow I take the time to incorporate that into my artwork. I’ve learned that even though it may not feel like you’re doing much you’d be surprised at the impact you may have other peoples lives. I’ve had celebrities tell me I’ve given them hope, I’ve had kids tell me they want to be like me. Meanwhile I’m here thinking I didn’t even get to where I wanted to be yet. I want the world to understand I’m a regular person just like y’all, but being regular doesn’t mean you can’t accomplish great things. Your past is not your future! Move forward and build for the people looking up to you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well honestly I’m kind of a homebody now. I have 2 kids, a wife and tunnel vision that doesn’t allow me to swerve to far off course. Don’t get me wrong, my city is amazing! The beaches, the food, the alcohol, the weed all that! But if you trying to hang out with me I’m going to either be home, at the gym, at the photography studio, the music studio or back in Deepside or shallow side to check up on my peoples!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely got to shoutout my wife Vanica Louis, owner of Louis Lens Photography! If it wasn’t for her push and overall support I don’t believe I would’ve continued pursuing what I was building. Also I would like to shout out Dirty 1000 & Fanny Ariel! Regardless of my accomplishments and skill I would always doubt myself, they helped me out of that dump and now I feel like I could definitely move mountains!
