We had the good fortune of connecting with EV and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi EV, how do you think about risk?
Up until the end of 2021, I was fearful of risk taking. It took a lot of reflecting and alone time to realize that if I don’t take the risk, I will never be able to grow. It’s ok to fail. Failure leads to so many great things. We need to be uncomfortable, yet stable in our foundation. We need to be vulnerable, yet aware of the factors involved. There needs to be a balance. But if you don’t take the risk, your life will remain stagnant. If you fall, fail, rise, succeed- you won’t know the meaning of any until you’ve jumped. You cannot allow fear to hinder your growth. It’s all in your mind. No risk, no reward.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a singer/songwriter on this beautiful excursion of life. I think everyone is unique because well, we ARE! It’s the journey that shapes our present as well as our future. I’m most proud of the genuine connections I’ve made and will continue to make worldwide. You cannot succeed alone and I’m forever grateful for the people that have entered my life. I’ve learned that it’s ok to take your time. Don’t pressure yourself to be better than anyone. It’s not a competition. Don’t rush greatness. If it comes easy, it’ll leave easy as well. Stay consistent, stay focused, stay motivated. There’s no right way to do things. My story is simply that, my own. If you want to get to know me- that’s what my music is for. How I love, how I think, how I feel, how I create. You’ll be able to feel my soul in every sound and every lyric. I’m not where I want to be professionally but I’m excited for the ride!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are some GEMS in the area. First things first is the beach. Take a dip in the water and get kissed by the sun. Then I would visit some of my favorite food spots (hop on a quick google search and you’ll find whatever you’re in the mood for). Witness the lost art of spinning vinyl at a spot called Dante’s Hifi (incredible vibes). Hit up a few intimate shows like Nomade Miami or Sofar Sounds. I would spend some quality time and record some gems in my home studio. Maybe organize a group of local musicians and get a jam session going. Get a disposable film camera and put our phones away for the day and experience the beauties of nature. Go to the Yellow Green Farmer’s Market and visit some of my favorite vendors like K&K Bohemian Soul. Drive up to Sawgrass Mall and eat the best cauliflower on the planet at Cauli Bites. See what events are happening at Oasis Wynwood as well as check out all the new and old street art in the neighborhood. There’s so much to do in so little time. I’m very thankful to live here.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are a few people who have influenced the risks I’ve been taking as of late. I want to give a big, big shoutout to my soul family- Mystic, Jess, Susie & Ziga as well as my new friends Alemor and Wizzmer for inspiring me to follow my dreams and believe in my talent. I would also like to include Ashlee and Bart from MUCE 305 who have supported my vision since the day they met me. I love all of you so much.
