We had the good fortune of connecting with Fatima Georges and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fatima, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Besides my job as an HR partner during the day, I also work happily as a fitness instructor. I believe strongly that being healthy is very important. While teaching fitness helps me earn money, it’s not just about making cash. It’s my way of encouraging people to live their lives to the fullest.

Let’s go back eight years when I faced a severe case of sciatica. Walking was hard, and I was in constant pain. Tired of taking lots of pills, my doctor told me to lose weight or get ready to use a wheelchair. No way was I going to accept that future! So, I started slowly by stretching and taking walks. Then, I got into Zumba dancing, which I love. Eventually, I became a certified Zumba instructor. However, craving more challenge, I pursued certification as a STRONG Nation instructor and occasionally engage in CrossFit sessions as well.

It’s been quite a journey—starting with encouraging myself in the mirror and spreading that positive energy outward. And you know what? There’s no end to this journey!

I strongly believe that whether you’re struggling financially, living a comfortable life, or have a lot of money, being healthy is the key to reaching your full potential. So, it’s not just about my fitness activities; it’s something we can all work on together. A healthier community means more happiness, more achievements, and more high-fives for everyone. That’s why I see my fitness work as a way to build a team of people who care about wellness in our neighborhood. Let’s get sweating, show off those bright smiles, and ride the wave of wellness together!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Coming from Haiti, being an immigrant wasn’t easy for me. Learning a new language, working, and chasing my dreams pushed me to my limits. It all started at Dollar General, where I worked as a cashier while going to school, learning the language, and adapting to a new culture. Fast forward to 2023, and I proudly graduated with a master’s degree in business. Those early days at Dollar General taught me teamwork, determination, and how to dream big, and I owe a lot of my success to that experience.

During the day, I work hard as an HR partner, but my real passion lies in being a fitness instructor. With a big smile and lots of energy, I encourage people to stay healthy one workout at a time. Even when things got tough, I never lost hope. Whenever I faced challenges, I looked up and said, “One day, I’ll look back on this and be even stronger.”

As I’ve journeyed through life, I’ve learned that the hope for a better tomorrow never fades, no matter where we are in our relationships or careers. Living our dreams isn’t just about sticking to a plan; it’s about being open to new opportunities. The dreams we have, whether they scare us or make us happy, all teach us something and help shape our stories. The real magic is in moving forward, because that’s where the true joy of living our dreams lies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my friend visits, here’s the plan: food adventures are a must because I’m a Foodie at heart. Throughout the long weekend, mornings will start with invigorating workouts, whether it’s a leisurely beach stroll, a nature walk in the park, or hitting the gym followed by a relaxing sauna session. We’ll definitely indulge in the lavish buffet brunch at Nikki Beach Miami on Sunday. As for activities, we might try our hand at top golf or go bowling for some light-hearted fun. One evening, we’ll savor the delectable small plates at Takato; the food there is simply incredible. If time allows, we’ll venture out to Homestead for a winery visit and immerse ourselves in nature’s beauty. Beachside locations are always a favorite, and dancing is a must-do—I may not have the best moves, but you’ll always find me on the dance floor, giving it my all! LOL.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Allow me a moment to express my sincere gratitude, beginning with heartfelt thanks to God. My faith has been my guiding beacon, and I owe Him everything for the blessings and fortitude He has bestowed upon me.

I also wish to extend my deepest appreciation to my family. Their unwavering support and boundless love have been my steadfast anchor through every twist and turn of my journey. They have demonstrated that I am deserving of love and support, and for this, I am eternally thankful.

Furthermore, I want to recognize all of my friends and acquaintances who have crossed my path, leaving indelible marks on my life. Each interaction, every conversation has contributed to shaping the person I am today. To each individual who has impacted me, whether in significant or subtle ways, I offer my heartfelt gratitude.

To those I have yet to encounter, I eagerly anticipate the future and extend a warm welcome. I look forward to forging new connections, fostering friendships, and embracing the lessons that lie ahead. Here’s to the ongoing journey of personal growth, continuous learning, and positive influence. As the saying goes, “It takes a village.”
