Meet Fernando Gomez | COO & Head of Post of Madclub Media

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fernando Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fernando, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business stemmed from an urge to help beyond what I could in the current workplace where I was at the time.
I found myself always questioning the who, what, why, behind every decision that was made at previous workplaces and would be frustrated to not be able to have a seat at the table. I always felt I had more to offer.
I realized that, in a way, it was my entrepreneurial spirit that started to lash out.
I also had a longing to problem solve, and be in a position where I can help people do so with my skills.
That’s when I started freelancing on my own, but quickly realized that in order to be more impactful, I couldn’t do it on my own. Hence I partnered with a friend, to start the business we own today, Madclub Media.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business, Madclub Media, is a boutique creative agency focused on video marketing and commercial work.
Prior to Madclub I ran a freelance business in the post-production space. I’ve been an editor for most of my career and in 2021 I decided to leave the corporate world and pursue my ambition to own a business and be able to work with clients in a manner where I could contribute by more than just “doing the work”
Being in post production I was able to do that, to an extent. An editor is usually one of the most relied upon players in the video and filmmaking process, but a few years down the line and I found myself realizing that I wasn’t doing enough to scale my business. That’s when I had the opportunity to partner up with my current business partner Gabriel Russo, who found himself in a similar position.
Our strengths complimented each other and we combined forces to revamp Madclub Media, which was initially under Gabe’s ownership.
Now under dual ownership and operation, we’ve focused on taking Madclub from solely a production company, to a creative agency servicing businesses with their marketing and social media needs.
It hasn’t been easy, but we’ve been able to stand out with our partnership due to our own set of experiences, and in a creative field where most creators like to run their businesses solo.
We’re strict believers in the proverb… “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in Miami have definitely changed as I’ve gotten older. If you were to have asked me this 10 years ago, I’d definitely say South Beach or Downtown Miami.
But now I find myself spending more time in areas like Coconut Grove, Wynwood, and Design District.
And mainly for the food. There are definitely countless restaurants opening up in each area, almost too much to remember sometimes. That’s why I find it so fun to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Should to my wife Emily, for always being in my corner,
Shoutout to my business partner Gabe who helps carry the weight of leading a team and building a legacy.
and our friends who cheer us on from the sidelines.
