We had the good fortune of connecting with Flor C. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Flor, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Trust in yourself, be positive and persistent. I have a morning routine that helps me to be focus in my goals and grateful. Every morning I drink a glass of warm water with lemon and I write about my feelings, I also practice meditation.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started to dance when I was 8 years old and I still remembering How I felt the first, time I was on stage, it was love at first sight. Unfortunately, I suffered a lot of bullying as a child and I tríed to quit dancing cause I didn’t understand why something I liked to do so much made me feel so bad. But I couldnt, my body asked me to express itself. I set out to travel and train in New York and Miami and when I’d finally made the decisión covid appeared in our lives.
It was a breaking point for me and my career, I had 2 options: I could sit on my sofá to complain about the situation or I could use that time to train as much as I could to be prepared for the moment when I can do the step. That was exactly what I did.
I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason cause during the quarantine I got a scholarship to train in one of the most famous dance academy in New York, something that I was looking for a long time ago.
It was not easy but over the years I’ve learned to be more patience and trust that everything comes to you at the perfect time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love traveling! In fact, I create travel content on my social media and Miami is a súper interesting city to explore and visit. I like speak easy so I recommend Bodega taqueria, I love the vibe of that place! To have a nice dinner, miracle mile is a beautiful area with a bunch of options.
And please, dont miss a sunset in Crandon beach, one of the most beautiful beaches (at least for me).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Long time ago, one of my collegues recommend me an incredible book called “The artist’s way” by Julia Cameron and I think that its a must for everyone who wants to explore arts in any of its expresions. Besides I’ve been training with a bunch of amazing dancers and choreograpers from all over the world but definetely “Cultura” had an impact on my life, not only in my way of dancing but also in my way of thinking. Im so grateful with her.
