We had the good fortune of connecting with Florencia Faiatt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Florencia, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Good habits have been the basis of my life for more than 10 years. As a psychologist and yoga teacher, I think it is essential to lead by example, and a healthy lifestyle is the key to carry out this ancient discipline.
Yoga has not only helped me incorporate new habits but also change unhealthy ones.
I feel that the most significant one is to meditate, which has provided me with the calmness I need to face my days with greater serenity and clarity. Nowadays, I can make better decisions and control my emotions as well.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Over the years, I began to feel that Yoga had become my shelter after long hours working for different companies as a psychologist. At that time, my passion for Yoga increased in such a manner that I needed to study its practice thoroughly so as to understand the discipline in depth.
Today I am taking part in a Yoga & Meditation study group where we approach the practice based on scientific research and not on 5000-year-old books.
My anti-stress yoga classes are for people who really want to explore and work on themselves. During the practice, we use mind-body therapy techniques based on science that allow us to work in depth in each particular case. The three fundamental pillars are breathing, physical posture and meditation.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Thinking of my own friends visiting me here, I love when they come and experiment how my life in Miami is. That means I´d probably include them in my daily routine. We would for sure ride our bikes through magic secret places, only known by locals, visit the Oleta River Park, do some kayaking and enjoy our beautiful beaches. There we could practice yoga and meditate. I would also love to take them to a lovely, cozy little bar I normally go with my local friends. The main idea would be to spend quality time surrounded by nature.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Each person I came across during my life has left a mark, and I feel the same about my students who taught me, challenged me and made me who I am today.
It is essential to emphasize the importance of my family too. They support me every day and help me progress. Specially, Valentín, my 6-year-old son, with whom I enjoy yoga classes regularly, showing him the path and giving him the tools to grow up having a healthier life.
My teachers/trainers/coaches throughout these years, who helped me open my heart, eyes and mind to direct my professional and personal life towards the promotion of health.
I want to especially thank Santiago Buompadre from Antropotécnica who is making me understand Yoga from a scientific point of view. My perspective on this ancient discipline has completely changed based on recent research.
