We had the good fortune of connecting with Francesca Villardi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Francesca, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I was in an abusive marriage for 24 years and was in the middle of a divorce. At the time I was working in the title business when the bottom fell out of the real estate market and I was left unemployed. I couldn’t find a job for 8 months so I decided to start my own business. I had never been a professional organizer but I loved doing it for friends and family. It was a huge risk for me as I didn’t get any alimony and was only receiving 250.00 a month child support for 2 children. But I knew that fear had kept me stuck for many years in this marriage and I needed to step out past my fear to do something that I loved.

What should our readers know about your business?
Starting without knowing about my business field was tough but I taught myself and learned all I could. I started this business from scratch. I did it all myself as I couldn’t afford to hire anyone. I have always been in the service business so that helped me relate to clients. I think what sets me apart is that my clients feel like they can trust me. I am not here to judge them just to help them organize their lives. I love to help others and this gives me the ability to do that, to literally change someone’s life. I hear this all the time as so many people are overwhelmed by their clutter. I am here to help, to teach them a system and to hold their hand and listen to them throughout the process.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in South Florida there is so many things to do. But one of my favorite places is Hollywood beach and the boardwalk there. There are so many restaurants and shops and every night there are live bands playing there. I also love the parks we have here. Kayaking through the mangroves and a boat ride during the hoildays to see the Christmas lights on all the huge houses is a must do.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a shout out to my 2 daughters who supported me through these rough times. All I did and do is for them. For me my idol is Oprah, her rags to riches story has always inspired me. We both came from poor upbringing, we were both sexual abused, and went through dark times yet we never gave up. When I felt like I couldn’t do this I kept thinking she did it and I can do it as well. Everything she pushed herself to do I did as well. She did a marathon, I did one. She jumped out of a plane, so I did it too. She walked on fire and I did it too. I wanted to push myself like she did. This gave me the courage to continue to fight and be better and never give up.
