We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Chinea Inguanzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frank, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The artist career pursue me .an artist is a historian in many ways,the current political upheaval is literally forcing me to document the abuses and racism against dark skin immigrants.every generation has a Guernica ,it seems that their is an 8 x 8′ canvas ordering me to speak for all the innocent victims at Gaza and the Donald Trump attempt to dismantle our democracy. I can’t keep quiet about the daily threat’s by this dark soul individual.its one more pregnancy,I must give birth to.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t have the answer of what sets me apart from others ,that’s for others to decide.my works are made up of millions of accidents ,I never know what’s going to happen next? It’s walking on water for
me .I’m never satisfied with any of my paintings ,this makes it impossible to be proud of my work or excited .I listen to the canvas ,it has its own live or opinion. I haven’t gotten to where I want ,but I’m on the path to that answer .I invite the challenges ,artists must dared to dared.for me every day is a whole lifetime. Lessons are eternal ,but most of the time I stump on them and keep walking the walk of life.i want to reach out to the young mostly,they must only listen to themselves,listening to others ,is volunteering to be crucified or taking off their assigned journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As a 10 year old that grew up at the Miami river area ,litlé Havana I would invite them to first listen to my story the story of a ten year old kid who didn’t know one word in English. As first generation ,cuban born kids ,visiting the old neighborhood,it brings back sadness ,but sadness and nostalgia a,both sentiments so crucial when you are an artist. Most of my favorites restaurants have seised to exist already,as time goes by, everyone and everything ,disappears .La Rosa Cuban restaurant is the best cuban food outside of Cuba. Garcia seafood at the Miami river area brings me great memories,it started small but was big on cooking cuban style food from the beginning in the 60s.miaimi is very beautiful today,it’s going to be unique plus beautiful in the future .its skyline is impressing.my favorite city is new york.my memories belong to Miami and my heart belongs to Cuba where I was born.im enamore with new York city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A tough ? I will give credit to those who encourage me and to the beautiful people are still encouraging me. I will mention tow beautiful human. Beings that brought me into this world ,where flowers bloom and skies sometimes turn grey ,where we fall in love and enamore the moon,Franco Chinea cepero & edelmira Chinea Inguanzo,my heros ! I have to mention Laida Makenzie,who supported my career and hugged me so many times ,when ever I was down,or signaling ,quitting ot depression.we artist play lotto every moment of our lives ,we lose supporters thru out our careers ,I guess we dream with our eyes open ,most people dream with theirs,closed.
The list of name s who have supported me is already too long ,I must say I’m grateful to all who criticized my work ,I’m my worst critic .it’s hard when people you loved stayed in your world for just a little time,lonelies replaces them ,only our shadow stays the time ,accompanies us forever & ever.
I promised ,I will always dream , without closing my eyes .
