We had the good fortune of connecting with Frederic AUTRET and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frederic, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

I don’t think I took many risks before I turned 40. I was lucky enough to start a career in the development of renewable energies by participating in two start-ups (wind and solar photovoltaic) as an employee, where I learned a lot and where the risk was reduced to the decisions taken on certain projects. There, I had to bet that I would get back on my feet after having managed complex situations. For me, risk is more a hot topic.

At the beginning of 2020, I decided to set up my own business, and I don’t know today if what I’m planning will work or not, or whether I will have to give up the freedom I have gained. It’s not easy to jump into the void when you have 4 kids and a lot many ongoing commitments, unlike when you’re 20. The barge is more loaded. The risk is therefore greater. But what a feeling of freedom it gives! You have the impression that everything is possible and you are confronted with your own limits, time and money management to achieve your goals.

So, for me, the notion of risk is currently synonymous with success or failure in business. All my current developments are linked to big ambitious projects on the African continent, including one large-scale utility solar power plant and two bitcoin mining farms among the most powerful and with the cheapest green electricity in the world. And if they work, I know it will be the reward of 25 years of personal growth, even greater independence and the ability to develop new opportunities. In particular, I will have the opportunity to develop my music production (as DJ Eoleman on streaming platforms).

In conclusion, without taking risks, I don’t think I can go any further in my accomplishment to realize beautiful projects and reach my full creative potential.

What should our readers know about your business?

I created a service company in Africa called Neveo Energy at the end of 2019 to assist my clients in the development of renewable energy on the African continent. I am particularly specialized in the development of very large-scale solar photovoltaic power plant. These are extremely complex projects due to the environment in which they have to operate. Additionaly, I conduct studies, such like as researching opportunities in the mining sector, to explore the possibilities of hybridizing their energy production to reduce their impact on the environment. I also work for investment funds to qualify opportunities and carry out studies to make industries self-sufficient in low-carbon energy.

Following my work in Africa, I am developing my own project with my partner in the Republic of Congo ; The first state concession to obtain its operating license. We are pushing for the country their electricity production, despite being an oil-producing nation.

These projects take many years to develop and are very risky, as they require significant funds and can stop at any time.

To create a recurring business, I established Neveo Data and started developing Bitcoin mining farm projects with extra renewable electricity capacity. This allows national power companies in African countries to generate additional revenue.

We place 1MW power containers near power plants to temporarily recover lost energy while the national electricity infrastructure evolves or new industrial customers arrive with large energy needs. This approach offers new ways of financing renewable energy in developing countries. Currently, I am working with my partners on two advanced projects that will require a total investment of around 60 million euros.

If I am unable to sign at least one project during the next four months, I will begin to determine whether I have taken a paying risk or not.

Finally, I have returned to the pursuit of large solar projects in France. Perhaps this is what we call risk management!

That being said, I am proud to embark on these adventures. Even though I know many persons who have given up on long and risky projects, I remain enthusiastic because I work in areas of the future that are both meaningful and innovative.

I am convinced that achieving results is largely dependent on the empathetic and creative capacities that we develop. When we infuse positivity into our interactions with others, show them respect, and are honest about our intentions, we have already taken a significant step towards success.

It’s worth noting that I could have also chosen to discuss my art project, “DJ Eoleman.” It is currently in the process of finding its identity, and my greatest desire is to develop it once I have achieved some tangible results with my African projects.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I don’t think it’s possible for me to thrive in my professional and creative pursuits, no matter what they may be, without the support of my wife. I deconstructed my previous life by getting divorced, embarked on a wild romance across Africa with my current wife, and completely rebuilt my personal life before going freelance. Thanks to the energy we share, nothing can stop us.

Therefore, if there is one person without whom I could not do all that I do, it is my wife. She gives me all her support, encouragement, strength, beliefs, and love.
