We had the good fortune of connecting with Gail Ulloa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gail, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
The last book that I read was “Own the moment” by Carl Lentz. I loved this book because I tend to always look at the future and wonder what it will be like, will we as a family be in the same place or will my dream ever come true about having my own location for children on the spectrum. Often times we are worried about the future that we never look at the present or live in the current moment that we are currently in and we miss out on what is in front of us. It is an amazing book and I would encourage everyone to read it. It is truly inspirational.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have to say what I am most proud of is Unique Families Inc. We have worked hard to help families and be a support to them as we continue to fulfill the mission that we have. I can honestly say that this has not been easy and continues to be very challenging. Being a small organization and then competing with bigger organizations is hard since everyone will always go and support the known and not the unknown. Something that I would love for people to know about us is that we know first hand the hardships that families like us go thru, the hurts, uncertainties, wanting the same things that every other family wants is what we want as well. But we also want to share our story with other families, how our faith has been our anchor in the most trying times of our lives. We want to be a blessing for other families as we have been blessed by others like us.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in South Florida there is a lot to do and one of the main things we love to do is going to the beach, or going to the Frost Museum that is located in Downtown Miami. We love going to the museum and then walking right outside because it is over looking the bay. One place that we love to eat at is Ceviche 105 a restaurant in downtown Miami. The food is awesome with a great atmosphere.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Many people have had a part in my life and in what we do as an organization to help others. First and foremost I have to give credit where credit is earned to my husband who continues to be my number one supporter in everything that I do and believe in, he encourages me to be the best that I can be no matter the circumstances. For my family for always supporting me in all of my endeavors. For a special group of women that from the beginning have believed in me and have pushed me to follow my dreams. And most importantly to my God that I serve and love, thank you for giving me a God size dream because I know that you are behind it all and because of that you will see it through.
