We had the good fortune of connecting with Gary Hawkins Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gary, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Becoming my own boss and creating generational wealth for my family.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
GH Photography & Designs was based in West Palm Beach for about 5 years. Opportunity came and we are now based out of Orlando, Fl. This business was birthed from determination, passion and purpose. Our main goal was to be a helping hand to other businesses, ministries, companies, entrepreneurs etc. We help with start ups or already established. Branding, websites, shoots, headshots, commercials, promos, events, logos, graphics, printing etc. Over the years with learning the business. We endured the hardships of any established company. Having competitors, slow season, high season, price matching, gain and loose customers. We managed to gain wisdom and knowledge from those lessons. To now having a success story that’s still being written.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being that we are new to Orlando LOL

All I can say is SEAFOOD, SEAFOOD, SEAFOOD LOL – And of course the theme parks is a must.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is a hard one, but these two individuals deserves a lot of credit. Being selfless in times I’ve needed tough love, encouragement, support, guidance and love. Being able to see, correct and sharpen my Creative and Photo skills. Big thank you to my creative genius brother Quarterman, who has a BA in graphic design from FAMU. Also, a major shoutout to my wife Myicia Hawkins. Words can’t express the love I have for you. If it wasn’t for you pushing me and believing in me, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
