We had the good fortune of connecting with Georges McNally and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Georges, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
As a boy I was very close to my late father and he said many wisdoms that still guide me today. One of my favorites quotes my dad taught me was “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” by Wayne Dyer. This quote helps me when I need to regroup and find alternative solutions.
When overcoming large obstacles, my late father wisdom was “If you are facing a mountain, it doesn’t matter the size of the mountain. Come with your shovel and your wheel barrel. Two things can happen, you’ll either break through the mountain it or put the mountain down. But to achieve either requires discipline and consistency.” He told me this when I was a young and this wisdom still inspires me and is what helped me chase my business dreams. Staying consistent and disciplined is key to everything.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am proud that I am a risk taker! There is no other way to be as an entrepreneur! I’m an optimistic person and speak positive affirmations into the world. I understand there will be challenges and losses, but I know there won’t be wins without risks either. My mentality going into anything is always “I’m going to make it happen.”
Before diving into my business, I use to a math teacher at a local middle school. Being a teacher was close to my heart because I was making a difference in these kids’ lives and they loved me as well. It was so hard having to say goodbye to those smiling faces that filled me with laughter, joy, and hope for a better future. However, in 2009 with the administrations focus on healthcare reform, I became aware about the importance of insurances. I realized there was a need in my community to close the gap between the insured and uninsured as well. Many people close to my family and friends struggle to get health insurance either because of language barriers or financial resources. Although I knew working in the insurance industry wasn’t easy, I’m not easily discouraged or phased by challenges. Being a leader and helping hand is second nature to me.
To be successful: Personally, discipline and consistency has been the key to starting and maintaining this business. The first 6 months I didn’t make a dime but I kept going! Now Max One is one of the best financial and insurance firms in South Florida. As a business, our mission statement guides us to continues success! At Max One “We care about each other, our customers and our communities. We are inspired to make a difference and we are committed to integrity and excellence. We believe in education, hard work, and innovation. We are a hand in our client’s financial success. Together, we will empower people to live healthier lives!”
People assume insurance is a tedious and annoying job but the reality is, insurance agents make money in their sleep! It’s called residential income. Insurance agents “sell one and earn regularly” meaning for every one person they enroll, they will regularly (monthly) make money as long as the client stays enrolled in the insurance program. Our business model helps you grow income on top of income!
The roughest patch in my business was the beginning. The first year of my business required 7 days a week work week because I was still a math teacher too. My drive to help people, plus the high demand for insurance agents, coupled with grading assignments, ate all my time! I was so new to the industry I had to self-teach myself everything and my wife and kids bore the weight of my absence. Eventually I reached burn out…my wife stepped in after my first year by quitting her job to help me and to help me hire employees to help with the work load.
I realized I had gotten caught up in the dream and successes that I neglected my health and family. I decided to make a boundary with work, that my health and family came first. I began taking my life back by doing yoga, playing tennis, seeing a fitness coach, and incorporating lots of family time. Nowadays, I make sure Sunday is for everything except work. By making sure to recharge, I can put my best foot forward the next day.
I am so proud of my team and I and where we are today. My role as a mentor in this industry is to encourage people to believe in themselves and take the risk to become independent agents! Thankfully I’ve been successful over the years and several people have left their previous occupations to work for Max One Enterprise y mas. Thank you team!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
South Florida has so much to offer when it comes to restaurants, beach life, and culture. If I had to plan the itinerary for a friend I think the first place we would go is Sawgrass Mall because of all the variety of options available and out of this world it is. Then we would have to eat at Kaluz restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Throughout the week I would try to take them to as many activities on the beach as possible such as taking them on a boat tour, or swimming at the beach. I find fishing very fun, relaxing, and a good way to wind down after a week of stress. Eventually, we will do a food tour through Miami. My favorite foods are Haitian, Caribbean, and Nicaraguan food. To end the trip, I have to take them to one of south Florida’s biggest landmarks: The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Guitar! Its breath taking in person with so many floors and casino games that one can get lost for hours.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people! I would like shout out my late father. He provided me so much which wisdom which still guides me today; throughout my business and personal life. My mother of course, she is the definition of strength and resiliency. She’s such a strong woman and inspires me through her strength. Lastly, my old friend in Haiti. He’s the one who taught me its okay to say no! Because I’m so determined to “make it happen” its easy for me to stretch myself thin. By saying “no” and prioritizing my health and happiness, I am able to maintain a work-life balance.
