Hi Georgette, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing that outsiders might not realize about the candle industry is just how complex and detailed the process of making a candle can be. It’s not just about melting wax and pouring it into a container. There are numerous elements involved, including selecting the right vessels, wicks, fragrances, and ingredients. Each component must be carefully chosen and tested to ensure the final product burns correctly and performs as intended. From the initial formulation to the rigorous testing phases, every step requires precision and expertise to create a high-quality candle. It’s a meticulous process that goes far beyond the simple act of lighting a wick.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In 2006, I launched Soy Delicious with a vision to create natural candles. My motivation stemmed from my family’s need for hypoallergenic products and my desire for a flexible work schedule after having kids. Transitioning from a teaching career to entrepreneurship, I embarked on this journey to balance professional and personal life.

I’m particularly proud of the resilience I’ve shown in maintaining and growing my small business despite the numerous challenges along the way. My commitment to producing high-quality, natural candles has allowed me to build a brand that stands out in a crowded market. Our candles are not only made from natural ingredients but also feature a proprietary blend that makes them uniquely moisturizing and soothing.

Navigating the path from a former teacher to a business owner wasn’t easy. The journey involved overcoming many obstacles, but staying consistent and dedicated to my vision helped me persevere. This experience has taught me the importance of adaptability, patience, and maintaining a clear focus on my goals.

I hope to share my story of transforming a personal need into a successful business and highlight how Soy Delicious stands out through our commitment to natural, allergen-free products. Our candles are more than just a product; they represent a blend of quality and care, with a proprietary formula that ensures they are moisturizing and gentle.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Miami, I’d make sure we had an amazing time exploring everything this city has to offer. We’d kick things off with a great day at one of Miami’s gorgeous beaches, just enjoying the sun and ocean. For a quick bite, I’d take them to La Crepe Bistro, one of my favorite spots to eat in South Miami. Another one of my go to local spots is Brewing Buddha, a great cafe!

We’d definitely squeeze in a workout at Pulse Fitness, my favorite gym, to stay active and energized. In the evenings, we’d check out some local neighborhood restaurants for tasty meals and unique flavors. Some of my favorite restaurants include Caffe Portofino, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille, Caffe Vialetto, and more. I’d also take them to a movie to catch the latest films.

We’d explore Coral Gables and Coconut Grove, wandering through these charming areas, having drinks, and soaking up the lively atmosphere. Miami’s mix of beautiful beaches, awesome local food, and vibrant neighborhoods makes it the perfect place I get to call home.
