We had the good fortune of connecting with Gerald Nova Sound and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gerald, how does your business help the community?
Nova Sound has grown to support several non-profit organizations and a few of our own initiatives that serve the help community and help save the environment. Through non-profit work, speaking engagements, and studio sessions we have been able to impact the lives of over 200 at-risk youth. To name a few very special organizations that put the mission first, DASH – Dreams and Success Homes, INC. The Motivational Edge INC. Erace The Hate. The nonprofit organizations inspired us to launch The Young Investors Scholarship, for youth interested in technology and finance in 2020. The scholarship allows us to expose the youth to information that they normally don’t unless they go into a career in finance and technology.

Our line of stage and studio supplies are partially made from recycled glass and plastic. We have recycled over 1,000 pounds of metal and electronics since our launch in 2014. With the launch of our first aid product line, we can now donate supplies to organizations and communities in need.

We also host a free Business Expo and Financial workshop once a month in Wynwood.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started Nova Sound because I found different elements of the entertainment industry interesting and I wanted to bring it all together. Though music is my true passion, I did not want to limit myself to production and songwriting, especially after I discovered the magic of sound design. I came to that realization in late 2013, fast forward ten years later I created my own style of production that I like to call “Post Percussion”. This style of music production uses real-world sounds in syncopated rhythms that create a unique experience for the listener. This style is well represented in my album “OSinQueNon”, we recorded sounds in nature and created a musical experience that puts listeners in a meditative state. 30 Under 30 is my new album, to be released summer of 2023. It’s my third full-length album and I’m excited to show the growth. I have learned so much over the past ten years of being in the industry that I am looking forward to giving out as free game in the lyrics.

Coming up with ideas is easy because it is natural, it just comes to you. But making it materialize, requires sacrifice and optimism. That was and still is a challenge every day. Doing the things you don’t want to do so your art can see the light of day is the key.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
South Florida has some of the best Jamaican restaurants Stateside. Ginger Bay Cafe is one of my favorite places to enjoy authentic Caribbean cuisine and a tropical drink. South Florida has a lot of beautiful places but Las Olas Boulevard is spectacular. The view from a boat ride tour of the canals of Fort Lauderdale, also known as the “Venice of America is absolutely breathtaking. For Miami Night Life, Shots Miami! It has an inside that sometimes feels like a club and a massive patio that turns into one of the best parties in the city on any given Saturday night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Dr. Changa Miller of Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Miller is an educator of 20+ years and real estate agent. Dr Miller became my Dad when I about age six. He set a great example, kept me focused, and pushed me to succeed.
