We had the good fortune of connecting with Giannina Montanari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giannina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I grew up in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, a country that thrived in art & beauty. My mom is a very talented painter which influenced me to love the arts. My parents put me in a strongly cultured, musically-focused school that fostered creativity and where I grew-up playing the violin. I have very fond memories of those times. When I was 9 we moved to the United States and I became a young immigrant. I felt like I lost my community, and artistic expression was something I really missed and longed for. Fortunately, when I was 19 years old, I walked into my first hair salon job for a receptionist position and I immediately fell in love with the industry. I realized that it allowed me the opportunity to express myself while helping others become the best version of themselves. My mom’s artistic talent and both my parents’ resilience are my sources of inspiration for everything I do today.

After many years working as a hairstylist I decided to open my own hair salon because I wanted to have a positive impact in my industry. I always dreamed of building a company I would be proud of and one others would really appreciate. Throughout the years I’ve enjoyed first-hand the positive impact this industry has in our community and the fulfillment it provides to hairstylists. I want to help by providing a space and an experience that allows people to feel happy and the best version of themselves.

What should our readers know about your business?
Ninette Hair Studio is a certified sustainable, carbon neutral hair studio in the heart of Miami. We are a supportive community of beauty professionals that make this world a happier place by empowering every life we touch through our creativity and the power of personal expression, delivering low-tox high-quality beauty services and indulging experiences while protecting our planet and promoting eco-friendly living.

I think happiness lives within, no matter the circumstances you have to be your own best cheerleader. I’ve learned that if your intentions are real and your “why” strong you are capable of pushing through the most difficult circumstances, only to learn that you are capable of anything. This is an incredibly rewarding feeling that no one can take away from you.

I try to lead with my heart. I authentically want to do good in this world, and that reflects in the way I lead my team and the customer service I like to provide to our customers. In this day and age we live in, there is so much aggression and lack of tolerance, I think people really enjoy feeling part of a loving community. Creating a space where people feel welcomed and like they belong is how we differentiate ourselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For casual eats: Lung Yao Thai Tapas, Kraken Crudo For dinner: KYU, Joia Beach. Peacock Garden Resto Bar
For coffee: Home, I make the best cappuccino
For drinks: The Lido Bayside Grill, Level 6 Rooftop, Rosa Sky
Paddleboarding: Miami Beach Paddleboard
Beach: Crandon Park
I’m blank now…

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family, my friends, my employees, my customer, and most importantly my husband and son deserve all of the credit for being an unconditional support system. I am grateful for their patience and understanding when I’m not present for them and for their continuous love and support.
