We had the good fortune of connecting with Gigi Saldaña and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gigi, how do you think about risk?
As an individual who actually studied and graduated it has been a constant battle between my dreams and real life since being an independent artist means quitting law school to dedicate full time to my dream and it is definitely a risk.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an afrolatina I grew up without or little representation of women like me in artistic industries therefore my art is inclined to represent afrolatinas around the world as well as a judgement free space for one to be their true self and feel whatever they want to feel or like I say “rica” or “rico”.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would like to take my friends to Brazil since is a country where people feel free. We would go to the beach, clubbing, brunch time, and connecting with nature, maybe go to a forest or chilling out with some animals in a barn. I love people who embrace what they feel and let it manifest in healthy ways that’s why I would choose Brazil.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could mention a few names but I want to give a big S/O to my team, Al Norte, Jomar, Erre Rosario, and Barbie as well as my friends and family dad, mom, my brother Abdiel, sister Isairys and Natalie.
